In a recent crackdown on cyber fraud, the Cyberabad police’s cybercrime unit has successfully detected 82 cases and arrested 161 offenders across 11 States in the first two months of 2025. The operation targeted various forms of cyber fraud, including trading scams, digital arrest fraud, and part-time job frauds.
According to police officials, a special drive conducted in Telangana specifically led to the detection of 32 cases and the arrest of 51 fraudsters. Trading fraud was reported as the most prevalent offense, with 37 cases and 82 arrests. Among those arrested were four habitual offenders from Surat, including Ajay Anand Bhai Italia, Jalpesh Bhavanbhai Nadiy, Vishal Arivadbhai Thummar, and Hiren Kumar Pravinbhai Baravaliyaand, all aged between 30 and 36, implicated in 11 cases involving part-time job and trading frauds.
Apart from trading fraud, other significant fraud categories included digital arrest fraud, with 15 cases and 27 arrests, as well as part-time job fraud, which led to 12 cases and 26 arrests. Additionally, advertisement fraud accounted for five cases and eight arrests, while offenses like smishing, job fraud, fake customer care service, business and investment fraud, social media crimes, vishing, loan fraud, identity theft, and impersonation-related cheating were also addressed during the operation.
During the crackdown, the police seized a range of digital and financial assets, including 93 mobile phones, 75 SIM cards, 37 cheque books, 22 passbooks, 23 debit cards, two company IDs, eight stamps, four laptops, a desktop computer, a printer, a car, and three sets of trader documents. The authorities have stated that further investigations into these cases are currently ongoing.
