New Product Integrations Enhance Governance and Security in AI Workflows

Integrations bring data protection, insider risk detection, and governance into Claude Enterprise and the Claude Platform.

Organizations are now equipped with unified visibility across various domains, including AI prompts, responses, files, activity logs, and workflows. This enhancement allows customers to extend their existing controls for data loss, behavioral risk, and supervision directly into Claude. Significantly, this integration eliminates the need for companies to deploy a separate AI security stack, thereby streamlining operations.

In a significant advancement for enterprise security, Proofpoint, Inc., a leading company in cybersecurity and compliance, announced its integration with the Claude Compliance API. This collaboration enhances Proofpoint’s offerings in areas such as data security, data loss prevention (DLP), insider risk detection, AI runtime security, and Digital Communications Governance (DCG). The integration empowers organizations to apply the same robust controls they have implemented for endpoints, email, and cloud environments to AI-assisted workflows.

As AI agents increasingly operate within organizational frameworks, they are gaining access to sensitive data and collaboration tools, previously restricted to human users. According to Proofpoint’s 2026 AI and Human Risk Landscape Report, nearly 90% of global organizations have progressed beyond pilot stages for AI assistants. Alarmingly, 42% of these organizations have reported experiencing suspicious or confirmed incidents related to AI.

The evolving landscape necessitates that security protocols, traditionally centered around human activities, must now adapt to encompass AI activities to maintain a comprehensive risk perspective. As businesses scale their use of Claude, AI agents engage in a variety of tasks, from reading files and drafting communications to influencing decision-making and triggering workflows. It is crucial that these activities are visible and governed under existing security and compliance frameworks instead of relying on separate, AI-specific security measures.

Mayank Choudhary, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Proofpoint’s Information Protection, Cloud Security, and Compliance Products Group, emphasized the need for a unified governance model. "Organizations cannot succeed with one governance model for people and another for AI,” he stated. He elaborated that both human users and AI agents operate within the same workflows, access identical sensitive data, and contribute to business decisions. Thus, they require a singular control layer. By extending data security and communications governance solutions into Claude, Proofpoint is enabling customers to manage AI activities through a trusted platform that also protects other enterprise assets. Choudhary expressed enthusiasm about this collaboration, noting that the Claude Compliance API facilitates secure and scalable integration.

Extending Data Security and Insider Risk Management for AI

The initial integration allows for the inclusion of Claude Enterprise conversation content and Claude Platform activity logs into Proofpoint’s existing data security and insider risk solutions. As a result, enterprises can leverage their current classifiers, behavioral risk models, and data loss prevention policies to monitor prompts, responses, files, projects, and administrative activities associated with Claude Enterprise while also checking the activity logs of the Claude Platform.

This integration provides organizations the capability to enforce consistent data controls, identify anomalous behaviors across human and AI activities, and investigate AI-assisted workflows—all within the established risk framework already in place. This means that there is no need to introduce a separate AI security stack, allowing for a smoother transition and integration of AI into existing security protocols.

Bringing Digital Communications Governance into AI Workflows

The second aspect of this integration focuses on extending Proofpoint’s Digital Communications Governance (DCG) into Claude Enterprise. Capturing simple transcripts is inadequate for regulatory supervision and investigations. To ensure compliance and detailed understanding, organizations must comprehend the context, intent, and sequence of actions behind decisions. By integrating Claude conversations into Proofpoint’s solutions, organizations gain the ability to enforce supervision, retention, eDiscovery, and investigative workflows pertinent to AI-assisted communications.

The integrated system analyzes communication patterns to extract meaning beyond mere text, enabling defensible reviews and decision reconstructions that encompass both human-generated and AI-generated interactions.
