Cyera-Oasis Collaboration Set to Transform Identity Security Landscape

In a strategic move aimed at revolutionizing identity security, Cyera has announced plans to acquire Oasis Security for a staggering $1 billion. This acquisition, spearheaded by Jason Clark, Cyera’s Chief Strategy Officer, is expected to significantly enhance organizations’ understanding of data access and permissions, thereby mitigating unnecessary risk.

A New Approach to Identity and Permissions

The proposed acquisition of Oasis Security marks a significant step forward in integrating identity information with data analytics. According to Clark, businesses now face the critical challenge of determining who has access to data, whether those users and service accounts should retain that access, and where excessive permissions might expose them to cyber threats. The deal seeks to merge data and identity management in a way that no company has achieved before. “CISOs view it as two sides of the same coin, and it just really was time that this happened,” Clark remarked.

Founded in 2022, Oasis Security has quickly established itself in the identity protection domain. The startup has attracted significant investments, raising $195 million over its brief existence, including a noteworthy $120 million Series B round completed in March 2026. Oasis’s founder, Danny Brickman, previously led cyber research and development for the Israel Defense Forces, showcasing the depth of knowledge driving the company’s innovative solutions.

Bridging Gaps in Current Security Practices

As organizations increasingly leverage autonomous identities, the complexities surrounding authentication, authorization, and compliance have escalated drastically. Clark posits that existing identity systems cannot cope with the demands of modern AI-driven environments. Organizations must fundamentally rethink security practices to accommodate both human and machine identities.

“You’ve got to understand the data, and you’ve got to understand what’s the identity, what’s the permissions?” Clark stated. He emphasized the importance of recognizing whether an identity is human or machine-generated and understanding the permissions associated with it to effectively minimize risk.

Oasis Security aims to alleviate the burden on security teams by focusing on identifying the most pressing risks while helping organizations implement actionable remediation strategies. Unlike many security vendors that merely point out problems, Oasis emphasizes solutions that directly address these risks, thus moving the industry forward.

Integration of Identity and Data for Enhanced Insights

In the world of cybersecurity, possessing identity data alone provides an incomplete picture of organizational risk. To adequately protect sensitive information, businesses must comprehend both who is accessing data and the level of sensitivity of that data. Brickman asserts that merging identity and data perspectives enhances business context, a critical element in understanding risk and compliance.

“The number one question that everyone asks is, ‘Tell me what I have and give me the business context,’” Brickman remarked. This unified approach serves as a foundational pillar for both Oasis and Cyera, setting them apart from competitors in the cybersecurity landscape.

Creating a Unified Security Framework

As the cybersecurity field evolves, existing network and endpoint security platforms are often constrained by their original technologies. Cyera’s acquisition of Oasis Security aims to bridge this gap by focusing on business context that combines insights gleaned from data, identities, and organizational operations. Clark envisions a central hub that will govern security decisions in an increasingly AI-driven environment.

“We want to create one central brain that doesn’t exist inside either to understand the data, the identity, the business context, so that we can then govern all of security with a hyper focus on agentic security,” Clark noted. This pivotal approach aims to create what he terms "agentic security"—a new standard for navigating the challenges of identity management in a digital-first world.

The Future of Cybersecurity Through Agentic Security

Following the acquisition, Cyera intends to solidify its reputation as the leading provider of agentic security solutions. This will involve comprehending every AI agent as a distinct identity capable of accessing data, thereby applying stringent controls throughout the interaction.

Brickman envisions a collaborative engineering effort that will yield new capabilities, setting Cyera apart in the cybersecurity market. “The differentiation that Cyera will open up in front of the market will be something that I don’t think any cybersecurity company has done before,” he emphasized, pointing to the potential for rapid innovation and expansion.

With the Cyera-Oasis deal, the cybersecurity landscape is poised for transformative changes that will redefine the intersection of identity and data security, paving the way for organizations to accelerate their AI adoption while ensuring robust protection against emerging threats.
