In a strategic move aimed at enhancing its footprint in the Australian market, A-Lign, a cybersecurity compliance vendor based in Tampa, Florida, has acquired AssurePoint, an Australian startup specializing in governmental compliance. This acquisition aligns with A-Lign’s goal of providing specialized services to organizations needing to comply with Australia’s Information Security Registered Assessors Program (IRAP).
A-Lign’s CEO, Scott Price, articulated the company’s aspiration to better serve the approximately 6,000 companies seeking compliance within Australia’s heavily regulated economy. Price noted that IRAP would serve as the initial service offering in Australia, with plans to introduce additional capabilities encompassing SOC 2, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, and penetration testing later on. This strategic expansion into Australia marks a significant step for A-Lign, which has been evaluating the addressable market as well as buyer habits in the region.
The relationship between A-Lign and AssurePoint dates back to March, and the acquisition itself followed a six-month collaborative effort where AssurePoint learned about A-Lign’s vision for the Australian market. Price expressed that the decision to acquire AssurePoint was largely customer-driven, stemming from increasing demands from existing clients in the United Kingdom who were expanding their operations into Australia.
By focusing on compliance requirements unique to the Australian market, particularly IRAP, A-Lign aims to solidify its position in an industry where having specific compliance frameworks is crucial for vendors wishing to engage with the Australian government. Unlike SOC 2 in the U.S. federal landscape, which provides a more generalized approach to compliance, IRAP serves as a stringent gateway for businesses wanting to operate within the Australian governmental sphere. Price emphasized that AssurePoint distinguished itself by making IRAP its core service rather than an ancillary capability.

AssurePoint, which was established in August 2025 and has a workforce of between 10 and 20 employees, operates under the leadership of Shaun Kumar. Kumar’s background as a former security consulting manager at Accenture and a cyber specialist in both Australia’s Department of Defense and Department of Home Affairs equips him with unique insights into governmental compliance needs.
As both firms look to integrate their operations, A-Lign is committed to maintaining the essence of AssurePoint’s offerings while layering on its technology to enhance efficiency. Price noted that high-quality personnel are crucial for success; thus, the incorporation of AssurePoint’s culturally attuned service delivery model is vital. The emphasis is on a customer-centric approach that integrates technology only after ensuring that personnel and service quality meet high standards.
Furthermore, A-Lign has ambitious plans for growth, expecting that AssurePoint’s revenue could triple between 2026 and 2027 as it expands its services to include SOC 2 and ISO 27001 frameworks. The target clientele includes emerging, private equity-backed Software as a Service (SaaS) companies that are eager to engage with government agencies, financial institutions, and healthcare organizations.
The Australian market is regarded as a promising launchpad for A-Lign’s further expansion into the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, which, while being high-demand, remains fragmented. Price envisions establishing a robust presence in Australia before considering broader regional growth.
