Lacework, the data-driven cloud security company, has announced an expansion of its partnership with Google Cloud, offering joint customers several new features that will enable them to innovate even faster in Google Cloud environments while ensuring enhanced security. With these new capabilities, customers can now choose to have the full Lacework platform on Google Cloud, providing data-driven protection from code to cloud from a single location.
One of the key enhancements includes low latency ingestion of Google Cloud audit logs events activity. This feature allows customers to process and alert on Google Cloud audit logs with lower and more predictable latency, enabling faster response times to potential security threats. Additionally, Lacework is introducing the Lacework Query Language (LQL) for Google Cloud logs, allowing users to write custom policies for monitoring and protecting their applications.
To further improve security, Lacework is also introducing Agentless Scanning for Google Cloud. This feature streamlines security assessments and provides a comprehensive view of vulnerabilities and misconfigurations within the cloud environment. With agentless workload scanning, customers can apply security measures at the organization level or for individual projects, making it easier to identify and address potential risks.
Another notable enhancement is the Attack Path Analysis for Google Cloud. This feature provides a visual representation of potential attack paths, combined with deep runtime insight from Lacework’s Polygraph Data Platform. By extending this capability to Google Cloud, customers can now have increased visibility into potential threats and take proactive measures to mitigate risks.
Customers will also benefit from the introduction of Composite alerts specifically for Google Cloud. These composite alerts provide greater context and reduce investigation time by correlating multiple detections into a higher-level alert when Lacework suspects an intrusion into the cloud environment. This helps Google Cloud customers quickly identify and address potential security breaches.
Furthermore, Lacework is strengthening its Google Cloud Eventarc integration in partnership with Google. This integration allows security professionals to build event-driven architectures without the need to implement, customize, or maintain the underlying infrastructure. It offers a standardized solution to manage the flow of state changes between decoupled microservices, making it easier to manage and track security events.
The partnership between Lacework and Google Cloud comes at a time when enterprises are seeking flexibility in how they run their cloud business. Lacework’s platform offers customers the option to innovate securely in Google Cloud, giving them the confidence to drive their business forward. With these new enhancements, Lacework is providing customers with the flexibility to choose how they leverage the platform, allowing them to focus on serving their customers while ensuring the security of their cloud environment.
“We are committed to giving our customers flexibility in how they leverage Lacework so they can stay focused on serving their customers, while knowing that they are secure in their cloud of choice or across multiple clouds,” said Brian Lanigan, Vice President, Worldwide Channel and Alliances, Lacework.
Vineet Bhan, Global Head of Security Partnerships at Google Cloud, emphasized the importance of security solutions that can adapt to an organization’s technology stack and enable them to monitor and protect their applications effectively. With Lacework’s platform, Google Cloud customers have the tools to help them secure their applications, including faster and more effective processing of audit logs.
Customers like Cognite, a global leader in industrial software, have already experienced the benefits of Lacework’s Attack Path Analysis. Simon Eriksen, Security Engineer at Cognite, highlighted how the feature helped them identify potential configuration problems before they escalated into significant security breaches, allowing them to fix the issues promptly.
With the expansion of their partnership, Lacework and Google Cloud are providing enterprises with the necessary tools and capabilities to innovate securely in the cloud. As cloud adoption continues to grow, organizations need robust security solutions that can adapt and scale with their evolving needs. Lacework’s platform, combined with the benefits of Google Cloud, gives customers the confidence to embrace the cloud while ensuring the protection of their data and applications.
