Tuya Smart, a global IoT developer service provider, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced their collaboration in establishing a “Collaborative Security Lab” during the re:Inforce China conference. The main objective of this initiative is to enhance security, compliance capabilities, and technological innovation in the IoT industry, setting new standards for security and compliance across the sector.

The collaboration between Tuya Smart and AWS will primarily focus on advancing security technology in four key domains: privacy computing, Matter PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), DevSecOps, and international data compliance. By joining forces, these two companies aim to improve security measures within the industry and contribute to its overall growth.

Joy Liu, the Chief Information Security Officer of Tuya Smart, emphasized the company’s commitment to security and compliance since its inception. Tuya Smart has always prioritized long-term construction and investment in security, and their close collaboration with AWS over the past decade has resulted in a deep integration of their cloud security products. Through this joint effort, Tuya Smart and AWS aim to further strengthen their cooperation and make significant contributions to the security development of the IoT industry.

As of June 30, 2023, the Tuya IoT Development Platform boasts over 846,000 registered developers from more than 200 countries and regions. Tuya Smart has been steadfast in fostering an open and neutral IoT developer platform, as well as building safer interconnected application scenarios. Their commitment is evident through the establishment of proprietary security and compliance standards. Additionally, Tuya Smart actively engages with industry standardization bodies and contributes to the formulation of crucial industry benchmarks.

Tuya Smart also plays an active role in promoting security standards and knowledge. In 2018, they released the “Tuya Smart Security White Paper” to educate and inform the industry. Furthermore, their emphasis on information security and practice of best security practices led to their selection as one of the enterprises with top security practices in the industry in the “2022 Global IoT Security White Paper” jointly released by the Research Center for Cyber Governance (RCGCG) and ioXt Alliance (Internet of Secure Things Alliance).

Tuya Smart is considered a role model in the industry, actively exploring security and compliance measures. Their transparent and open information security strategy involves partners and experts, reinforcing industry standards. When designing products, Tuya Smart incorporates tangible actions to ensure comprehensive security measures throughout the lifecycle of product and solution development. Concepts such as Zero Trust Provisioning, continuous monitoring, vulnerability mitigation, over-the-air upgrades, and user-focused privacy solutions collectively enhance product security and reliability.

With the increasing complexity of IoT application scenarios and the growing number of IoT devices, security concerns have become more challenging to address. In response to this, the “Collaborative Security Lab,” a joint effort between Tuya Smart and AWS, aims to leverage the strengths of both companies to enhance cooperation and exploration within the IoT domain. This collective endeavor seeks to deliver industry-wide solutions. Looking ahead, Tuya Smart aims to explore the integration of generative artificial intelligence (AI) into IoT security practices, providing holistic information security to customers and end-users and driving secure and sustainable growth in the IoT industry.
