IBM has recently announced the expansion of its IBM Cloud Security and Compliance Center, offering a range of modernized solutions to help enterprises manage risk and protect data across their hybrid and multicloud environments.
With the increasing threats faced by organizations and the evolving global regulations, it has become crucial for businesses to find effective ways to address these challenges. The expanded suite of solutions offered by IBM aims to support resiliency, performance, security, and compliance needs while also minimizing operational costs.
Rohit Badlaney, General Manager of IBM Cloud Product and Industry Platform, emphasized the company’s commitment to assisting clients in highly regulated industries such as financial services. He stated, “IBM Cloud has a long history of working with clients in financial services and other highly regulated industries, especially when it comes to helping them to drive innovation while protecting their sensitive data.”
The expansion of the IBM Cloud Security and Compliance Center is a testament to IBM’s dedication to providing industry-specific capabilities that address real-world business challenges. For instance, clients now have the ability to utilize the IBM Cloud Framework for Financial Services, which helps them navigate evolving rules, laws, and regulations surrounding cloud risk.
According to research conducted by IBM, over 77 percent of global business leaders have adopted a hybrid cloud approach. However, more than half of the respondents expressed concerns about security and compliance in the cloud. To overcome these challenges, the enhanced IBM Cloud Security and Compliance Center offers continuous monitoring and management of security and compliance from a central dashboard, covering both hybrid and public cloud environments.
To further broaden its capabilities, IBM introduced the IBM Cloud Security and Compliance Center Data Security Broker in collaboration with Baffle, Inc. This addition expands beyond compliance posture management and workload protection to include application-level security. The Data Security Broker provides transparent data encryption and anonymization technology to protect sensitive data used in business applications and AI workloads.
Frank Dickson, VP of Security & Trust at IDC, highlighted the importance of centrally automated and managed technologies to implement security and compliance capabilities at scale. He mentioned, “IBM Cloud Security and Compliance Center Data Security Broker will support more scalable data protection, furthering IBM’s commitment to building technology that creates enhanced outcomes.”
In addition to the Data Security Broker, the expanded IBM Cloud Security and Compliance Center suite includes several new capabilities. These include enhanced cloud security posture management, workload protection, and infrastructure entitlement management. Vulnerability management is prioritized to enable the quick identification and remediation of critical vulnerabilities. The suite also offers intelligent automation technology with deployable architectures and visibility into third- and fourth-party risk posture through integrations to risk management solutions. Furthermore, expanded compliance capabilities are expected to be available in Q4 2023, which will include the automation of implementation and management of compliance controls.
The expansion of the IBM Cloud Security and Compliance Center aligns with IBM’s mission to protect workloads in hybrid and multicloud environments, as well as sensitive data. The suite is now generally available and includes additional partner integrations.
