Bishop Fox, a leading authority in offensive security, has announced the appointment of its first Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Christie Terrill, a 14-year veteran at Bishop Fox with over 20 years of experience in security and technology services, has been named the new CISO. Aaron Symanski, who had been serving as the interim CTO since fall 2022, will assume the role in a full-time capacity. Both Terrill and Symanski will report directly to CEO Vinnie Liu.
Terrill played a crucial role in the completion of two major industry certifications for secure information management. Bishop Fox recently achieved certification for ISO/IEC 27001 Type 2, which is recognized as the global standard for effective information management. Additionally, the company completed the SOC 2 Type 2 Security Trust Services Criteria, which provides assurance about the effectiveness of controls in place to manage customer data. In February 2023, Bishop Fox had already achieved SOC 2 Type 1 certification.
According to Liu, 2023 has been a year of change for many, including Bishop Fox. The addition of a CISO and CTO marks a significant organizational advancement and further strengthens the company’s leadership team. Liu expressed enthusiasm about the new appointments, stating that Terrill has been instrumental in developing the company’s operational strategy and creating value for clients, while Symanski’s extensive expertise as a CTO will accelerate the technology-enabled services offered by Bishop Fox.
Terrill’s most recent role at Bishop Fox was leading Delivery Excellence, where she focused on maximizing client value and maintaining high service quality. Throughout her tenure, she has been actively engaged with clients, defining the scope of services and delivering security strategies and embedded security program services. Before joining Bishop Fox, Terrill held various technology consulting roles for Accenture and Ernst & Young, working with Global 500 companies.
Symanski brings over a decade of experience as a CTO to his new position. Prior to joining Bishop Fox, he served as a CTO at Carrick Capital Partners and Change Healthcare. With a deep understanding of organizational change across technology, operations, business models, and culture, Symanski is well-equipped to drive the growth and evolution of Bishop Fox’s technology platforms and services. His experience spans various industries, including global financial, healthcare, and sports, with over ten years at Bank of America.
