Veeam Software has recently introduced the new Veeam Data Cloud, a cloud service built on Microsoft Azure that combines the reliability of the platform with the accessibility of a cloud service. This innovative offering provides backup-as-a-service (BaaS) for both Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Azure, offering resilience and leveraging top-notch data protection and security technology within a user-friendly experience.

According to the Veeam Data Protection Trends Report 2024, a staggering 88% of enterprises express strong interest in utilizing Backup as-a-Service (BaaS) or Disaster Recovery as-a-Service (DRaaS) for at least some of their production servers. Anand Eswaran, CEO at Veeam, highlighted the significance of these new offerings, emphasizing Veeam’s reputation as the global leader in data protection and ransomware recovery. By offering these trusted capabilities for Microsoft 365 and Azure as-a-service, companies can simplify backup operations while maintaining the cyber resiliency and reliability that Veeam is known for.

The cloud-native design of Veeam Data Cloud, combined with Azure’s robust data platform, offers optimal protection for Microsoft 365 and Azure data. This architecture follows zero trust principles and uses Azure Blob Storage to keep backups isolated from production environments, continuously versioned, and securely stored for quick recovery. The all-in-one service includes backup software, infrastructure, and storage, streamlining management and keeping costs predictable.

John Annand, Principal Research Director at Info-Tech Research Group, praised Veeam’s focus on building cutting-edge technology and highlighted the ease of configuration that IT professionals have come to expect from Veeam products. Veeam Data Cloud eliminates the need to rely solely on experienced professionals, allowing them to delegate tasks and focus on other priorities. This flexibility ensures that companies can deploy workloads wherever necessary, rather than conforming to a single safe haven.

Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 builds upon the trusted Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 solution, now delivered as-a-service to provide enterprises with a feature-rich and modern cloud offering for data protection. This backup service covers Microsoft Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Teams, offering complete control over the Microsoft 365 environment.

Key highlights of Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 include industry-leading technology, intuitive web UI for easy management, and a comprehensive package that includes software, infrastructure, and unlimited storage with expert maintenance. Stuart Hudson, Global IT Infrastructure Senior Manager at Sun Chemical, commended Veeam Data Cloud for its role in protecting critical data and enhancing productivity across the organization, while also yielding significant cost savings.

Veeam’s first SaaS offering for Azure backup, Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft Azure, delivers a fully hosted backup service that ensures reliable backup and recovery for Azure VMs, Azure SQL, and Azure Files. This service enables quick ROI by removing implementation barriers and leverages best practices to enhance enterprise readiness and confident recoverability.

Overall, Veeam Data Cloud represents a significant leap forward in cloud-based data protection and security, providing enterprises with a powerful yet simple solution for managing their backup operations. By leveraging the capabilities of Microsoft Azure and Veeam’s expertise in data protection, companies can enhance their cyber resiliency and ensure the safety of their critical data in the cloud.

As the demand for scalable and secure backup solutions continues to grow, Veeam’s innovative approach to cloud-based data protection is poised to make a lasting impact on the industry.
