Brownwood, Texas, June 26, 2024 – Landmark Admin, LLC (“Landmark”), a third-party administrator for life insurance carriers, has recently disclosed a data security breach that potentially compromised personal information. This breach could affect producers, insureds, policy owners, or policy beneficiaries who provided information for insurance policies administered by Landmark.

The incident took place on May 13, 2024, when Landmark detected suspicious activity on its system, leading to the discovery of an unauthorized third party gaining access to their network. As a response, Landmark immediately shut down the affected systems, terminated remote access, and enlisted the help of a specialized cybersecurity firm and IT experts to investigate and secure their environment. While the forensic investigation is ongoing, evidence suggests that certain files may have been accessed by the unauthorized party.

The types of information that may have been compromised include first and last names, addresses, Social Security numbers, tax identification numbers, driver’s license numbers, passport numbers, financial account numbers, medical information, dates of birth, health insurance policy numbers, and life and annuity policy details. The extent of the impact varies for each individual, and affected parties will be notified by mail.

In response to the breach, Landmark has taken swift action to enhance its network security and is implementing measures to prevent future incidents. The company is advising individuals to remain vigilant against identity theft by monitoring their accounts and obtaining free credit reports through the Annual Credit Report website or by phone. Additionally, individuals can seek information on identity theft protection from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

For any questions or concerns regarding the breach, individuals can contact the help line at 1-844-428-5109 for assistance within 90 days of receiving the notification. Landmark apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the incident and reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding the privacy and security of all data under its control.
