NETSCOUT, a leading provider of cybersecurity solutions, has recently announced updates to its Arbor Edge Defense (AED) and Arbor Enterprise Manager (AEM) products as part of its Adaptive DDoS Protection Solution. This update is specifically aimed at combating AI-enabled DDoS threats and protecting critical IT infrastructure in the face of increasing cyber threats.

According to NETSCOUT’s DDoS Threat Intelligence Report, there has been a significant increase in both application-layer and volumetric DDoS attacks, with a rise of over 43% and 30%, respectively. Additionally, the report highlights the growing prevalence of DDoS-for-hire services, which have become increasingly sophisticated, making it easier for attackers to launch devastating attacks.

In light of these findings, the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) recently issued a cybersecurity advisory underscoring the importance of implementing robust controls to prevent and detect malicious activity. This advisory further emphasizes the critical need for enterprises to invest in protective solutions to mitigate business risks and safeguard their IT infrastructure.

Chris Rodriguez, Research Director of Security & Trust at IDC, emphasizes the challenges posed by the increasing complexity of IT environments and the need for organizations to adopt proactive and adaptive measures to defend against evolving threats. He commends NETSCOUT’s Adaptive DDoS Protection solution as a vital tool in mitigating these risks, highlighting the dangers of relying on reactive or static mitigation techniques that lack sophisticated intelligence.

NETSCOUT’s Adaptive DDoS Protection solution leverages advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies within its ATLAS Threat Intelligence Feed. This global threat intelligence system constantly monitors over 550 Tbps of Internet traffic across hundreds of ISPs and enterprise sites worldwide, providing real-time insights to combat emerging threats.

The latest releases of AED and AEM incorporate AI/ML algorithms to create a closed-loop DDoS attack analysis and mitigation process. These technologies automatically identify changing attack vectors and offer tailored recommendations for attack mitigation, with the option to apply these recommendations automatically. This ensures a proactive approach to defending against DDoS attacks and reducing downtime costs for businesses.

Scott Iekel-Johnson, AVP of DDoS and Threat Intelligence at NETSCOUT, highlights the critical need for enhanced cybersecurity measures as threats to IT infrastructure continue to evolve rapidly. He underscores the company’s commitment to providing customers with a comprehensive solution that addresses the growing challenges posed by cyber threats.

In addition to these updates, NETSCOUT has introduced new features such as holistic management and visibility into non-DDoS threats, a high-capacity appliance supporting up to 200 Gbps of DDoS attack mitigation, and extended support for Microsoft Azure public cloud environments. These enhancements further underscore NETSCOUT’s dedication to offering robust cybersecurity solutions that protect assets across various platforms and environments.

Overall, NETSCOUT’s continued focus on innovation and adaptation in the face of evolving cyber threats cements its position as a trusted partner for businesses seeking to safeguard their critical IT infrastructure from malicious attacks. By leveraging AI and ML technologies, NETSCOUT remains at the forefront of cybersecurity solutions, providing customers with the tools they need to defend against the ever-changing cybersecurity landscape.
