IDC predicts that by 2026, over 90% of organizations will feel the impact of the IT skills crisis, highlighting the urgency for effective workforce development strategies. Upskilling programs present a viable solution to closing the cybersecurity skills gap, with organizations investing in employee training to bridge the gap between demand and supply of skilled professionals.

Women in tech are also actively seeking opportunities for skills development and career advancement, with a significant percentage considering switching roles in the coming year. Leadership, management, and project management skills are deemed crucial for tech leaders, emphasizing the importance of soft skills in addition to technical expertise. However, women in the cybersecurity industry continue to face challenges related to inclusion and support, highlighting the need for systemic changes to create a more inclusive work environment.

Overall, the 2024 IT and cybersecurity skills gap presents both challenges and opportunities for professionals in the tech industry. By addressing these trends and findings, organizations can better prepare for the evolving landscape of cybersecurity and IT, ensuring they have the talent and skills needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
