The Himachal Pradesh Police is taking proactive measures to tackle the rising cases of cybercrime in the state by establishing a cutting-edge Cyber Forensic Lab called ‘i-crack’ (Investigation Aided Cyber Forensic Repository Analysis and Core Keyframe). This new lab will be equipped with advanced technology and staffed with experts who will conduct thorough investigations into cybercrimes and assist in apprehending criminals. A specialized team of professionals will be dedicated to the i-crack lab, tasked with analyzing digital evidence, solving various cybercrime cases, and ensuring that perpetrators are brought to justice. Furthermore, the lab will also conduct campaigns to raise awareness about cyber security, empowering citizens to protect themselves from online fraud.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the State CID Cybercrime, Mohit Chawla, emphasized that the primary objective of the i-crack Cyber Forensic Lab is to streamline the process of investigating cybercrimes in the state and take decisive actions against cyber offenders. “By educating the public, we aim to prevent cybercrimes from happening in the first place. Increasing awareness is a crucial aspect of this initiative, as it is one of the most effective ways to combat cybercrime,” stated Chawla.

According to the DIG, cybercrime cases are on the rise both nationally and in the state, with cybercriminals employing sophisticated tactics to carry out fraud and deception, resulting in substantial losses for individuals and organizations. “In response to this escalating threat, the Himachal Pradesh Police Department has decided to launch this initiative to enhance our capabilities in investigating and preventing cybercrimes within the state,” explained Chawla.

He also urged the public to remain vigilant and to be cautious in order to avoid falling victim to cyber fraud. Additionally, Chawla encouraged individuals to report any incidents of cybercrime promptly by contacting the helpline number-1930.

The establishment of the i-crack Cyber Forensic Lab comes at a critical time when cyber threats are becoming more prevalent and sophisticated, posing a significant challenge to law enforcement agencies worldwide. By investing in state-of-the-art technology and recruiting skilled professionals, the Himachal Pradesh Police is demonstrating its commitment to combatting cybercrime and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.

The proactive approach taken by the authorities in setting up the Cyber Forensic Lab reflects a recognition of the evolving nature of criminal activity in the digital age. As technology continues to advance, it is essential for law enforcement agencies to stay ahead of cybercriminals and equip themselves with the necessary tools and expertise to effectively investigate and prosecute cyber offenders.

In conclusion, the establishment of the i-crack Cyber Forensic Lab is a significant step towards enhancing the cybersecurity infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh and safeguarding the state against the increasing threat of cybercrime. By fostering collaboration between law enforcement, technology experts, and the public, this initiative aims to create a safer digital environment for all residents of the state.
