In a recent survey conducted by IT provider Westcon-Comstor, it has been revealed that 76 percent of German Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) are planning to increase their financial investments in Cloud Security, especially in Cloud-native Application-Protection Platforms (CNAPP) over the next 12 months. This survey included the opinions of 500 security decision-makers worldwide.
The study also highlighted the eagerness of the German CISOs to invest in Cloud Workload Protection (33 percent) and Kubernetes Security Posture Management (20 percent), which are considered significantly higher than global averages. This indicates a growing recognition of the importance of Cloud Security among German security professionals.
One of the key drivers for the adoption of CNAPP solutions, as identified by the respondents, is the consolidation of all security features on a single, unified platform. This consolidation is seen as a way to reduce the complexity of security architecture and minimize the risks of blind spots that may arise when using multiple tools from different vendors.
Moreover, survey participants also noted that integrating security and compliance testing seamlessly into CNAPP provides a significant advantage. This integration allows for comprehensive visibility into risks in cloud environments and throughout the entire development lifecycle of applications. According to Daniel Hurel, Senior Vice President of Westcon EMEA Cybersecurity & Next-Generation Solutions at Westcon-Comstor, CNAPP platforms enable the seamless coverage of the entire software development process, from code to cloud.
The survey results indicated that 75 percent of security professionals in Germany believe that, given the current trend of shifting operational responsibilities towards developers and cloud architects (known as “Shift Left”), a DevSecOps approach is necessary. DevSecOps emphasizes the integration of security practices early in the software development process, ensuring that security is not an afterthought but an integral part of the development lifecycle.
Overall, the survey findings highlight the growing importance of Cloud Security and the adoption of CNAPP solutions among German CISOs. With the increasing reliance on cloud environments and the need for robust security measures, investing in Cloud Security tools and platforms like CNAPP is becoming a top priority for organizations looking to secure their digital assets effectively. As threats to data and systems continue to evolve, aligning security strategies with cutting-edge technologies like CNAPP is crucial for staying ahead in the ever-changing cybersecurity landscape.
