A tragic incident unfolded in Nizamabad as 31-year-old Alakunta Sampath passed away while under the custody of the Cyber Crime police, sparking outrage from his family who accused the police of using excessive force leading to his death.

The authorities, however, refuted these claims and stated that Sampath was detained in connection to a human trafficking case and was undergoing further questioning when he complained of chest pain. Nizamabad Assistant Commissioner of Police L. Raja Venkat Reddy clarified that Sampath was rushed to the local government hospital after experiencing discomfort, where he tragically succumbed.

Reports surfaced alleging that Sampath, a consultant from Jagital, had been deceiving job seekers and trafficking them to countries like Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos to participate in cyber crimes. One victim of this scam alerted the Cyber Crime police who promptly launched an investigation and eventually arrested Sampath on March 4, leading to his judicial remand.

Following his arrest, Sampath was taken into police custody for interrogation purposes before being escorted to Jagital to gather more evidence related to the case. It was during this investigative process that he complained of pain and was rushed to the hospital, where he tragically passed away despite attempts to resuscitate him.

Authorities have taken cognizance of the incident and have registered a case under section 196 of BNSS, requesting an inquest by a local judge and conducting a detailed autopsy with video documentation. The circumstances surrounding Sampath’s demise have raised concerns and demands for a thorough investigation into the matter to determine the cause of his death and ensure accountability.

The tragic turn of events has left Sampath’s family devastated and in search of answers as they mourn the loss of their loved one. The community has also been stirred by this incident, with many questioning the practices and procedures followed by law enforcement agencies during interrogations and custodial detentions.

As the investigation continues and more details emerge, it is crucial for authorities to maintain transparency and uphold the principles of justice to address the concerns raised by Sampath’s family and the public. Only through a comprehensive and impartial inquiry can the truth behind his untimely demise be revealed and accountability ensured for those responsible.

The death of Alakunta Sampath serves as a stark reminder of the importance of upholding human rights and ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals in police custody. It is imperative for the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into this tragic incident and take necessary actions to prevent such tragedies from recurring in the future.
