World-renowned physicist, Professor Brian Cox, has been announced as a keynote speaker during Infosecurity Europe 2025. Cox, known for his work in particle physics and science communication, will be headlining the event with a keynote titled: ‘Quantum computers might change everything, eventually …’

During his keynote address on the first day of the event, Cox will delve into the principles behind quantum computing and explore how concepts like black holes and quantum mechanics are shaping the future of computing, including its impact on cybersecurity. This is particularly relevant at a time when the field of quantum computing is rapidly advancing, with the recent development of Microsoft’s first quantum chip in February 2024.

The potential of quantum computers to revolutionize various industries, from healthcare to manufacturing, is undeniable. However, the advent of quantum computing also poses a significant challenge to cybersecurity. The ability of quantum computers to break current encryption protocols raises concerns about the security of digital information.

While initiatives like post-quantum cryptography (PQC) algorithms have been introduced to address these concerns, many organizations are still unprepared to transition to quantum-resistant security measures. According to the Cybersecurity Trends Report by Infosecurity Europe 2025, only 23% of cybersecurity professionals feel their organizations are well-prepared for the quantum computing era.

Cox’s keynote will shed light on this pressing cybersecurity conundrum and emphasize the need for proactive measures to safeguard digital assets. As an expert in the field of physics and public engagement, Cox’s insights are expected to provide attendees with a fresh perspective on the challenges and opportunities presented by emerging technologies.

As the UK’s most influential experimental physicist, Cox’s reputation precedes him.
