Longmont-based technology company Parascript, LLC, found itself in the midst of a major ransomware attack in August 2024, compromising valuable consumer data such as names and Social Security numbers. Fast forward to March 18, 2025, and Parascript took the necessary step of filing a data breach notice with the Attorney General of Massachusetts to inform individuals affected by the security breach. This proactive approach was taken to address the breach and ensure affected parties were aware of the compromised information.

The ransomware attack unfolded between July 29 and August 16, 2024, prompting immediate action from Parascript upon detecting suspicious activity within its network. The company wasted no time in containing the breach, alerting federal law enforcement, and enlisting external cybersecurity experts to delve into the incident. Through their investigation, it was discovered that unauthorized individuals managed to breach certain parts of Parascript’s IT network, gaining access to files containing confidential consumer data, including Social Security numbers and other sensitive information.

Delving deeper into the fallout of the breach, Parascript launched an investigation to pinpoint the specific data that had been compromised. Following this thorough review, the company was able to identify the affected individuals and the nature of the breached information, which predominantly consisted of Social Security numbers and names. With a commitment to transparency, Parascript took the initiative to send out data breach notification letters on March 18, 2025, outlining the compromised information for each individual impacted by the breach.

Despite the security incident, Parascript remains dedicated to its core mission as a technology company specializing in artificial intelligence-driven document automation solutions. These include services like handwriting recognition, data extraction, and document classification, catering to a diverse range of industries such as finance, healthcare, government, and logistics. With a workforce of approximately 58 employees and an annual revenue estimate of $10 million, Parascript continues to prioritize the development of advanced document processing software to streamline workflows, minimize errors, and enhance decision-making processes for its clients.

As the company navigates the aftermath of the breach, it is determined to uphold its status as a leader in the industry, emphasizing the importance of data security and maintaining trust with its customers. By taking proactive steps to address the breach and notify affected individuals, Parascript aims to rebuild confidence in its data protection measures and reinforce its commitment to safeguarding sensitive consumer information.

In the wake of this cybersecurity incident, Parascript’s resilience and dedication to enhancing its security protocols serve as a testament to its unwavering commitment to data protection and maintaining the trust of its clients in an increasingly digital landscape.
