Apple has recently issued security updates for several of its operating systems, including iOS, iPadOS, macOS Sequoia, tvOS, and visionOS, in response to two vulnerabilities that were actively exploited. The first vulnerability, identified as CVE-2025-31200, relates to a memory corruption issue within the Core Audio framework. This flaw could potentially allow malicious actors to execute code by utilizing specially crafted audio files. The second vulnerability, known as CVE-2025-31201, involves a weakness in the RPAC component, which enables attackers to bypass Pointer Authentication through manipulation of read and write capabilities.

To address these security concerns, Apple has taken steps to enhance bounds checking and remove the vulnerable section of code. It was reported that both vulnerabilities were exploited in targeted attacks against specific individuals using iOS devices. The detection of these issues was made possible with the assistance of the Google Threat Analysis Group (TAG), which initially reported CVE-2025-31200. Since the beginning of the year, Apple has issued fixes for a total of five zero-day vulnerabilities, including those found in Core Media, Accessibility, and WebKit components, all of which had been actively exploited.

The security updates are now accessible for a variety of devices and operating systems. These include iOS 18.4.1 and iPadOS 18.4.1 for iPhone XS and newer models, various iPad versions, and macOS Sequoia 15.4.1 for compatible Mac computers. Additionally, updates for tvOS 18.4.1 and visionOS 2.4.1 have been made available for Apple TV HD, Apple TV 4K, and Apple Vision Pro devices. Apple is strongly recommending users to promptly install these updates to reduce the risks associated with these vulnerabilities.

In light of the ongoing exploitation of these security flaws, it is crucial for users to ensure that their devices are updated to the latest software versions. The increased prevalence of targeted attacks underscores the importance of staying current with security updates to safeguard devices and prevent potential breaches.
