JetStream Secures $34 Million to Transform AI Governance in Enterprises

In a significant development in the realm of artificial intelligence governance, JetStream, a startup co-founded by the former chief product officer of CrowdStrike, has successfully raised $34 million in a seed funding round led by Redpoint Ventures. This initiative aims to enhance visibility and control over AI systems in production environments. With numerous concerns surrounding AI governance, JetStream is setting a new standard by providing comprehensive transparency in how AI operates within organizations.

Founded in 2025 and based in San Francisco, JetStream’s mission revolves around addressing critical issues such as model context protocol (MCP) server sprawl, key sprawl, and overall AI cost management. The co-founder and CEO, Raj Rajamani, emphasized the necessity of mapping AI assets across various platforms, including cloud services and software-as-a-service (SaaS) vendors. This innovative approach is crucial for maintaining operational efficiency and accountability.

Rajamani pointed out a prevailing trust deficit among senior leaders in organizations, such as Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and Chief Information Officers (CIOs). According to him, these leaders often lack the visibility and control necessary to effectively manage AI systems within their enterprises. He stated, “There are various reasons that contribute to the trust deficit. Senior leaders do not have enough visibility and controls to get a thorough understanding of everything that is happening within their enterprise regarding AI.”

The primary barriers to scaling AI in organizations are not technological constraints but rather the apprehensions surrounding transparency and predictability. Rajamani noted that companies frequently encounter challenges due to AI’s non-deterministic behavior. As a result, identical prompts can yield different outputs, fostering skepticism among those responsible for operational and compliance accountability.

“How do you actually enhance trust?” Rajamani questioned. “You enhance trust by opening up that black box that is AI and providing the transparency needed to help everyone understand how these systems function.” His concept of “blueprints” offers a structured representation of what AI agents are doing, including the tools they use, the data they interact with, and the permissions they operate under. Such blueprints are instrumental in defining an authorized purpose for AI systems, enabling JetStream to detect any deviations.

While competitors tend to address specific facets of AI governance, such as detecting shadow AI or managing MCP aspects in isolation, Rajamani argues that this fragmented approach leaves vulnerabilities. “Our thesis is that most large customers prefer one comprehensive AI governance platform that covers visibility, design, control, and financial operations,” he asserted. With the growing complexity of AI governance, JetStream’s unified approach aims to eliminate gaps that may be exploited by malefactors.

A significant part of JetStream’s focus lies in addressing issues related to MCP server proliferation and key sprawl. The uncontrolled installation of MCP servers can create several supply chain risks, including unverified vulnerabilities and unauthorized integrations. Furthermore, the accidental exposure of keys in public repositories can lead to economic abuse, highlighting the urgent need for effective governance solutions.

“The number one issue I’m hearing from our customers is, ‘How do we control the proliferation and sprawl of MCP servers?’" Rajamani expressed. He stressed that while many enterprises believe they have standardized their AI operations with a single provider, the reality often contradicts this belief. The landscape of AI services is typically fragmented, with numerous vendors contributing to the complexity and confusion regarding usage and costs.

JetStream sets itself apart by transforming intricate AI dynamics into enforceable and understandable constructs through its blueprints. Rajamani believes that these blueprints will not only clarify complexities but will also provide the necessary enforcement capabilities tailored for MCP governance.

“Not only are we giving you those 5,000 jigsaw pieces, but we also assemble them into 50 blueprints that make sense at a glance,” he remarked, showcasing the user-friendly nature of JetStream’s approach. The company has also created a verified MCP catalog that conducts extensive scans to ensure the integrity of MCP servers.

In summary, JetStream’s innovative contributions to AI governance represent a crucial step toward addressing the inherent challenges organizations face regarding transparency, control, and trust in artificial intelligence systems. As the landscape evolves, the company aims to streamline and consolidate AI governance across enterprise environments, thereby enabling businesses to harness the full potential of AI while mitigating associated risks.
