The funding will enable the Sarasota, Florida-based company to significantly reduce response times to cyber incidents, an urgent necessity given that attackers are now capable of moving from initial compromise to command-and-control operations within a mere minute. Foster emphasized the urgency of this issue, stating, “With the increasing speed of cyber attacks, our investment in tools that can take direct action—such as isolating threats or removing malicious content—is essential.”

Tenex, established in 2024, has already made strides in the industry, employing 73 individuals and closing its Series A funding round of $27 million just seven months prior. Foster has been at the helm since inception, bringing a wealth of experience from his years as president of managed detection and response provider Cyderes, and tenure at companies like Fishtech and RiskIQ.
Foster passionately believes that the current moment represents a critical inflection point in cybersecurity. “We have a significant advantage in this rapidly changing landscape of threats,” he remarked during a recent interview with Information Security Media Group.
Revolutionizing Threat Detection
One of Tenex’s notable strengths lies in its ability to spot threats often overlooked by traditional endpoint tools. Foster articulated the company’s strategy, asserting that the best AI firms are distinguished not only by their technological models but also by the expertise of their teams. By maximizing productivity through AI enhancements, Tenex is positioned to drastically improve its output. He noted that skilled hires can now produce results in a month that previously took a year.
“We’re hiring aggressively—bringing in as many software and AI engineers, as well as data scientists, as we can,” Foster stated. “These individuals amplify effectiveness exponentially.”
Most cybersecurity providers currently face limitations due to human constraints, often only reviewing a fraction of alerts. However, Tenex is committed to leveraging AI and automation to analyze comprehensive telemetry data, providing decisive verdicts within one minute. Foster articulated the significance of this transition from partial to comprehensive visibility, marking it as a pivotal evolution in security operations.
“The fundamental shift for our platform hinges on AI and automation, which enables us to assess 100% of customer alert telemetry more efficiently than any human analyst,” he explained.

Many incumbents grapple with legacy infrastructures and outdated business models that hinder their ability to adapt to AI-driven paradigms. Foster expressed optimism, stating, “There has never been a more opportune time to build and grow a business in this sector." With plans to expand their workforce significantly, Tenex anticipates hiring between 250 and 300 new employees within the current year alone.
