Netskope has recently made an announcement regarding its expansion of data protection capabilities through the integration of data security posture management (DSPM) technology into its Netskope One Platform. This advancement comes as a result of Netskope’s acquisition of Dasera, a company founded in 2019 with a focus on identifying and evaluating data in structured and semi-structured data sets stored across various platforms.

The integration of DSPM technology into the Netskope One Platform is expected to enhance the company’s ability to provide advanced security measures across a wide range of use cases, including web, SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, email, endpoint, and on-premises scenarios. Notably, the integration will now encompass structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data stores as well as data lakes, thereby offering a more comprehensive approach to data protection.

Sanjay Beri, CEO and co-founder of Netskope, emphasized the importance of a modern data security strategy that involves understanding and controlling the location, nature, and usage of data within an enterprise. He highlighted the significance of assessing the posture of data stores, monitoring the handling of sensitive data, managing access permissions, and enforcing real-time data policies. Beri expressed his enthusiasm for incorporating DSPM capabilities into the Netskope One platform, stating that feedback from security leaders worldwide has been positive regarding this development.

By incorporating Dasera’s expertise in identifying and evaluating data in hyperscaler platforms like AWS and Azure, as well as in platform-as-a-service repositories such as Databricks and Snowflake, Netskope aims to further enhance its data protection capabilities. The integration of DSPM technology is expected to provide users with a more holistic approach to data security, enabling them to effectively manage and safeguard their data across various storage platforms.

Overall, Netskope’s integration of DSPM technology into its Netskope One Platform represents a significant step towards offering comprehensive data protection solutions to enterprises. This move underscores the company’s commitment to enhancing cybersecurity measures and ensuring the security and integrity of sensitive data across diverse digital environments. With this integration, Netskope aims to empower organizations to adopt a modern data security strategy that addresses the evolving challenges and complexities of data protection in today’s digital landscape.
