Ellison argued that as more companies move towards cloud-based technology services, the potential for breaches like the one suffered by TechnologyOne increase.

This latest breach is by no means the first breach to occur in the technology industry. In fact, a decade-long breach of Toyota, the automotive manufacturer, was only recently publicised. The breach, which occurred in Japan, saw the data of over 2 million vehicles being compromised.

The impact of both the TechnologyOne and Toyota breaches highlights the importance of companies regularly reviewing their data security measures. The increasing reliance on technology by businesses of all sizes and industries, means that breaches are becoming more common.
