Apple Confirms Siri Data is Kept Private and Not Used for Ads

Apple Inc. has reiterated its strong commitment to user privacy, emphasizing that its products, including the digital assistant Siri, are built with the utmost care to safeguard personal data and ensure it is not utilized for advertising purposes.

In a recent statement, the tech giant stated, “Apple has never used Siri data to create marketing profiles, has never allowed access to it for advertising, and has never sold it to any third parties. We are continuously working on developing technologies to make Siri even more private, and we will continue to do so.”

Privacy has always been a cornerstone of Apple’s design philosophy, with a focus on principles such as data minimization, on-device intelligence, transparency, and robust security measures. “The audio of user requests is processed entirely on the device using the Neural Engine, unless a user chooses to share it with Apple,” the company said. “Siri requests are not linked to users’ Apple IDs or phone numbers; instead, a unique device-specific identifier is used to maintain the confidentiality of personal identity.”

Moreover, Apple only retains audio recordings of Siri interactions if users opt-in for service improvement purposes, giving users full control over their data. The company has also introduced Private Cloud Compute technology, which enhances the privacy protections of iPhones in the cloud, ensuring that user data remains private and is not stored or accessible beyond what is necessary.

A representative from Apple stated, “Privacy is a fundamental human right. We are committed to developing products and services that uphold this right. We do not use Siri data for marketing profiling, advertising, or selling it to third parties.”
