BNB Chain has announced its sponsorship of the upcoming ETH Oxford 2025 hackathon, set to take place at the Mathematical Institute of Oxford University from February 7-9, 2025. As a key sponsor of the event, BNB Chain is looking to support the rapid growth of the UK’s developer community by promoting innovation within the decentralized ecosystem.
In a bid to provide additional support to developers working on BNB Chain projects during the hackathon, BNB Chain will establish a dedicated hacker house in Oxford. This facility will cater specifically to developers, with accommodation requests being managed through the ETH Oxford application process. In addition, a public event featuring a welcome coffee and breakfast will be hosted on February 8, offering participants valuable networking opportunities.
The focus of ETH Oxford 2025 will be on fostering innovation in Decentralized Science (DeSci) and AI, while developers will also have the freedom to explore other areas of interest. With a prize pool of $156,000 up for grabs, including a $2,500 cash prize for the winning team, a $100,000 kickstart package, and a direct interview for the Most Valuable Builder (MVB) Program by BNB Chain, participants have ample incentive to showcase their skills. There will also be a special $1,000 bonus for the best project built on BNB Greenfield, BNB Chain’s decentralized storage network.
In addition to the hackathon, BNB Chain will be hosting a workshop that delves into the technical nuances between Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain. Scheduled for February 8 from 12:15 PM to 1:15 PM, this workshop will serve as an introduction to the BNB Chain ecosystem, providing participants with valuable insights into the platform.
Project submissions for the hackathon will be evaluated based on a set of criteria, including the requirement that projects must be new developments deployed on or connected to the opBNB/BSC mainnet or testnet and must be open-source. Participants will also need to ensure at least two successful transactions within the hackathon timeframe and submit shared artifacts such as GitHub repositories and demo videos. Projects will be judged on factors such as contract verification, open-source code, roadmap, documentation, community engagement, and innovative design.
The ETH Oxford hackathon presents a unique opportunity for developers to showcase their skills, engage with like-minded individuals in the blockchain community, and explore potential collaborations. By participating in the event, developers can look forward to networking with top industry professionals, founders, and investors in the Web3 space, thereby enriching their experience within the BNB Chain community.
