A recent survey conducted by RWS revealed that 87% of C-Suite executives are feeling the pressure to rapidly implement GenAI solutions at speed and scale. The findings also indicated that while there is overwhelming excitement across organizations about the potential benefits of GenAI, there are concerns about the diversion of enterprise resources and the risk of an AI backlash in the future.

The survey highlighted that 36% of executives are worried about the extreme danger of resources being redirected towards GenAI, which could otherwise be better utilized elsewhere. Additionally, 65% of executives expressed their apprehension about a potential AI backlash in the coming years due to the current hype surrounding the technology.

One of the key tensions identified in the survey is the portrayal of AI as a threat to human employment. Many headlines focus on the concept of job substitution, creating fear and uncertainty among employees. Despite this, business leaders remain excited about the transformative potential of AI technology.

Executives participating in the survey also shared concerns about being left behind in the race to implement GenAI. Mark Lawyer, GM of Linguistic AI at RWS, emphasized the importance of a strategic and purposeful approach to AI implementation to ensure that organizations derive value from their investments.

The survey results indicated that while 43% of executives believe GenAI is critical for maintaining a competitive advantage, 68% find it challenging to identify genuine innovators in the crowded AI market. As a result, 60% of executives prefer to collaborate with trusted partners who combine technology, AI, and human expertise.

Dr. Arle Lommel, a senior analyst at CSA Research, emphasized the importance of advanced automation and AI from trusted global content partners, stressing the need for a combination of generative AI and human expertise to gain a competitive edge in the global market.

In terms of GenAI implementation, the survey highlighted the importance of objective security certification and the need for accuracy and reliability of model outputs. Organizations are also advised to consider data privacy, ethical impact assessments, and the impact on customer experience as key risks in the adoption of GenAI solutions.

The survey concluded by emphasizing the importance of organizations taking a cautious approach towards GenAI. Despite the growing investment and experimentation in the field, organizations cannot afford to ignore the technology. It is crucial for organizations to engage and educate employees about GenAI usage to prevent unauthorized shadow usage and mitigate risks associated with sharing sensitive information.

Overall, the survey underscores the need for organizations to approach GenAI implementation thoughtfully and responsibly to avoid potential backlash from stakeholders. By collaborating with trusted partners and prioritizing security, accuracy, and ethical considerations, organizations can leverage the transformative potential of GenAI while minimizing risks.
