In a recent development, the cyber crime cell has successfully dismantled a large-scale online job fraud operation, apprehending six individuals from Delhi and Ghaziabad. The accused, identified as Kunal Kumar, Jeet Singh Sandhuja, Shan-e-Azam, Shah Faizal Ansari, Himanshu Kumar, and Rahul Kumar, were involved in duping job seekers with fake airline offers.

The arrests were carried out in connection with an FIR filed on March 28, following a complaint by Raj Kumar from Sector 20-A. Kumar alleged that he had fallen victim to a scam where he was promised a job at Vistara Airlines. The ordeal began with a phone call on September 23, 2024, followed by an online interview and an offer letter. Subsequently, under the guise of registration, security, insurance, account opening, tax, and cabin rental charges, he was coerced into transferring a total of ₹1.4 lakh through UPI.

Prompted by Kumar’s complaint, law enforcement conducted raids in Delhi and Ghaziabad, leading to the arrest of the perpetrators. The modus operandi of the accused involved posting fraudulent job advertisements on popular platforms like Facebook, enticing unsuspecting individuals with enticing job opportunities in the airline industry, shopping malls, and other sectors. Upon expressing interest, victims were instructed to make payments for various charges through UPI and bank transfers in the name of administrative formalities.

During the raids, the police uncovered crucial evidence, including 17 mobile phones with active SIM cards, a laptop, two forged documents, and two cheque books. These findings shed light on the sophisticated nature of the fraudulent operation, highlighting the concerted efforts of the cyber criminals to deceive and exploit job seekers for financial gain.

It is worth noting that one of the accused, Shan-e-Azam, had a prior criminal record, having been previously booked in Noida for a similar fraudulent call center scam. This underscores the need for stringent measures to combat cyber crime and protect innocent individuals from falling prey to such deceitful schemes.

The successful apprehension of the six accused is a testament to the dedication and perseverance of the cyber crime cell in upholding justice and safeguarding the interests of the public. It serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and caution when exploring job opportunities online, urging individuals to verify the authenticity of job offers and exercise caution while sharing personal and financial information.

As investigations continue and legal proceedings unfold, authorities are committed to ensuring that those responsible for perpetrating online job frauds face the full consequences of their actions. Through collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies and the public, combating cyber crime and protecting vulnerable individuals from falling victim to such scams remains a top priority.
