On April 18, 2025, a critical development occurred in Fort Collins, Colorado, when the local Police Services Cyber Crimes Unit successfully located a missing juvenile from Missouri. This breakthrough took place during a meticulous search at a residence in Fort Collins, resulting in the arrest of a registered sex offender.

The investigation began after a detective from the Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force provided a tip about a potential kidnapping case. The juvenile in question had been missing since December 2024. The Fort Collins police, after assessing the information, pinpointed a residence located in the 800 block of Warren Landing as a probable site of interest and subsequently secured a search warrant. The SWAT team of Fort Collins Police provided essential support during the operation.

Upon entering the residence, officers encountered Maximilian Bondrescu, a 43-year-old man, who initially denied knowledge of the juvenile’s presence. However, a thorough search of the premises revealed the missing juvenile concealed inside. The police promptly took Bondrescu into custody.

As information about the case unfolded, it became clear that Bondrescu is facing a series of serious charges, underscoring the gravity of his alleged actions. These charges include:

– A Class 2 Felony for Second Degree Kidnapping of a Child.
– A Class 3 Felony for Sexual Assault on a Child—under a pattern of abuse.
– A Class 4 Felony for Second Degree Assault.
– A Class 5 Felony for False Imprisonment related to locking a minor in a room.
– A Class 1 Misdemeanor for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
– Two Class 2 Misdemeanors for Child Abuse and Harboring a Minor.
– A Class 2 Misdemeanor for Obstructing a Peace Officer.

Investigators established that Bondrescu had rented a vehicle, traveled to Missouri to meet the missing juvenile, and then transported her back to Colorado against her will. During the ordeal, the juvenile reported being forced to work for Bondrescu’s snow removal company, known as FoCo Sno GO, where she was reportedly made to wear a mask to disguise her identity and age. This information raised concerns about the nature of her captivity and the treatment she endured.

In light of the troubling events, Fort Collins Police are now seeking assistance from the public. They have asked former clients of FoCo Sno GO to come forward and contact Detective David Guy at (970) 416-2026. This outreach aims to gather more information and ensure the safety of any potential victims who may have interacted with Bondrescu’s business.

The efforts of the Fort Collins Police Cyber Crimes Unit have been met with praise from law enforcement officials. Fort Collins Police Assistant Chief Kristy Volesky emphasized the critical nature of their work in protecting children. She stated, “The importance of the work done by the Fort Collins Police Cyber Crimes Unit, and similar units across the nation, plays a vital role in helping to keep our children safe. Had it not been for the diligent work of these detectives, the juvenile could have continued to be victimized.” This acknowledgment highlights the impact of collaborative efforts in law enforcement and the necessity of vigilance against crimes involving vulnerable populations.

As the investigation continues, it is crucial to note that the case involves sensitive allegations of sexual assault and a juvenile victim. Therefore, many details remain restricted under statutory protections to safeguard the identity and well-being of the victim. Additionally, Bondrescu is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, reflecting the foundational principle of the legal system.
