Druva has recently launched Dru Investigate, an innovative AI-powered tool that revolutionizes the way data security investigations are conducted. This cutting-edge tool utilizes a natural language interface to guide users from various teams including IT, security, legal, and privacy in swiftly identifying and mitigating data risks, without the need for complex queries. Leveraging Amazon Bedrock, an AWS service that enables the easy development and scalability of generative AI applications, Dru Investigate harnesses Druva’s insights from protected data to streamline cyber and legal investigations.

In today’s digital landscape, data is becoming increasingly vulnerable, prompting customers to conduct thorough investigations to determine the extent and impact of potential threats. Security teams face the daunting task of understanding complex attack patterns, such as malware gestation, score, and sprawl, all of which are crucial pieces of information that reside within the data and systems. Similarly, legal and privacy teams must be able to identify sensitive data protections and potential employee misconduct, such as intellectual property theft or fraud. However, uncovering these insights often proves challenging as it requires security teams to have a deep understanding of applications and construct intricate search queries across multiple data sources before they can derive meaningful insights.

Dru Investigate addresses these challenges by empowering users to conduct investigations into potential data risks using natural language queries, enabling them to quickly comprehend their data and guiding them even when they are unsure of what to look for. Stephen Manley, CTO of Druva, emphasized the importance of connecting security and IT teams with the necessary insights and centralized access to data at the right time. Through Dru Investigate, teams are guided through the process of investigating and analyzing protected data using a natural language interface, enabling them to take prompt action to address threats effectively.

Baskar Sridharan, VP of AI and Infrastructure at AWS, praised Druva for driving AI innovation through the power of the AWS cloud and Amazon Bedrock. According to Sridharan, Dru Investigate serves as a real-world example of how AI can have a tangible and positive impact on organizations across various functions, especially in the realm of cybersecurity where advanced threats necessitate AI-driven responses.

One of the key features of Dru Investigate is its ability to simplify data investigations using AI and natural language processing capabilities. This not only accelerates decision-making but also facilitates collaboration in high-pressure scenarios. With the initial release of Dru Investigate, users can analyze the genesis, scope, and impact of cyber threats, even in cases where they are uncertain of where to begin. The tool empowers customers to safeguard backup environments, identify anomalies in data, and find and remediate intrusion-related evidence, thereby enhancing their overall cybersecurity posture.

Built on Amazon Bedrock, Druva’s suite of Dru AI products is designed to bolster data security. These products do not access or learn from customer data, ensuring that sensitive information remains encrypted and protected on the Druva platform. By utilizing isolated large language models and private Retrieval-Augmented Generation, Dru Investigate guarantees secure analysis and operates solely with an organization’s metadata to safeguard its data.

The introduction of Dru Investigate follows the recent launch of Dru Assist, an AI-powered support system that proactively addresses key customer needs. This demonstrates Druva’s commitment to leveraging AI to enhance user experiences and provide instant solutions to customer queries.

Bill Teeple, Director of IT at NeuroPace, commended Dru Investigate for its efficiency in streamlining the investigation process and mitigating data risks. Teeple highlighted the tool’s ability to save time and expedite decision-making by enabling users to ask questions and access insights instantly, thereby enhancing their ability to analyze and act on critical data.

Phil Goodwin, research vice president at IDC, acknowledged the increasing deployment of AI in data protection and cyber recovery applications and emphasized the practical approach taken by IT organizations in adopting AI. Goodwin lauded Druva’s Dru AI copilot as a valuable addition that will benefit ITOps and SecOps teams in detecting and responding to cyber threats more effectively.

Noteworthy is the fact that Druva manages all infrastructure for the AI models in its Data Security Cloud, eliminating the need for additional infrastructure from customers. Dru Investigate is now available to all customers at no additional cost, further highlighting Druva’s commitment to providing cutting-edge solutions to enhance data security and streamline investigative processes in today’s digital age.
