The hackers issued a demand for the school to meet their terms within a specified time frame, but when the deadline passed without compliance, the stolen data was made public on the darknet site.

Luke Connolly, a cybersecurity threat analyst with Emsisoft, warned that paying ransom only encourages cyber criminals to continue their illegal activities and target more victims in the future.
