A recent report by CompTIA, the nonprofit association for the technology industry and workforce, has highlighted the high demand for skilled technology workers across Europe. According to CompTIA’s “European Tech Hiring Trends” report, there were over 950,000 job postings for technology positions in 11 countries during Q4 2022. This indicates a significant need for individuals with tech expertise in various sectors. Graham Hunter, executive vice president of global sales at CompTIA, emphasized the importance of professional certification programs in meeting the demands of the tech industry.

The demand for tech workers cuts across different career stages. Approximately 35% of employers sought candidates with 0 to 2 years of work experience. This trend was even more pronounced in Romania, where 57% of all tech job postings targeted early career professionals, and in Ireland with 54%. Meanwhile, 10% of job postings required 3 to 10 years of experience, while 13% sought candidates with 11 or more years of experience.

Job postings for tech positions were widespread geographically, with Germany, France, and Poland having the highest numbers. The information and communication industry had the most job postings, but other sectors like professional, scientific and technical services, manufacturing, administrative and support services, and financial and insurance sectors also showed strong hiring interest.

Additionally, IT support specialists and technicians as well as network and systems administrators and technicians were in demand, with 113,427 and 113,394 job postings respectively.

The report also sheds light on the unique characteristics of tech employment in each country. In 10 out of the 11 countries analyzed, software development and programming were the top job role categories.
