The Cloud Security Alliance recently unveiled the Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK) v5, marking the latest iteration of its vendor-neutral cloud security training and certification program. Geared towards security analysts, compliance managers, security engineers, architects, and administrators, the CCSK v5 offers comprehensive training in various essential topics such as cloud incident response, application security, and data encryption. Regarded as a standard for showcasing proficiency in cloud security knowledge and skills, this certification program is highly respected within the cybersecurity industry.

According to the CSA, the CCSK v5 is designed to cover the most critical issues that cybersecurity professionals encounter on a daily basis. It is meant to complement and enhance other educational opportunities available to professionals in the field. Building on the success of CCSK v4, the latest version incorporates updated information, recommendations, and best practices for securing various aspects of cloud architecture, including cloud native security, workloads, virtual networking, data protection, DevSecOps, zero trust, and generative AI. Additionally, the program delves into topics like serverless/function-as-a-service, application security, continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), automation, identity and access management, and incident response.

The Security Guidance for Critical Areas of Focus in Cloud Computing v5, released by the CSA, serves as the foundation for the CCSK v5 program. Students enrolled in the certification program have access to a range of training modules, resources, and tools, including the CCSK v5 Prep Kit for self-paced online learning. The exam for CCSK v5 has been extended to 120 minutes, up from the previous 90 minutes, and is expected to cost $445. However, veterans are eligible for a fee waiver, as per the CSA.

One of the key highlights of CCSK v5 is the inclusion of essential information on risk management, compliance, organizational cloud security strategies, and the shared responsibility model between cloud providers and customers. Additionally, the program integrates the innovative generative AI tool, CCSK Orb, to further enhance the learning experience and provide valuable insights into cloud security practices.

Overall, the release of CCSK v5 represents a significant advancement in cloud security education and training. By equipping cybersecurity professionals with the latest knowledge and skills needed to secure cloud environments effectively, the certification program continues to set the standard for excellence in the industry. The CSA’s commitment to continuously updating and enhancing the CCSK program underscores the organization’s dedication to promoting best practices and empowering professionals to address evolving cybersecurity challenges in the cloud.
