Cybereason has introduced Cybereason Mobile Threat Defense, powered by Zimperium, to address the escalating security risks associated with the widespread use of mobile devices in business settings. According to Brandon Rochat, Cybereason’s regional sales director for Africa, the increasing popularity of mobile devices and applications has led to a constantly evolving attack surface. Research indicates that 60% of endpoints accessing enterprise assets are now mobile devices, highlighting the growing threats to cybersecurity.

The ‘Global Mobile Threat Report 2023′ by Zimperium revealed a significant 187% year-over-year increase in compromised devices that were fully exploited, without being jailbroken or rooted. Rochat emphasized the importance of enhancing mobile security measures to reduce the attack surface, enhance visibility, and safeguard sensitive organizational data as well as employee data security.

Cybereason Mobile Threat Defense (MTD) is a privacy-focused solution designed to deliver comprehensive mobile security for organizations. It aims to protect users and data on both corporate-owned and bring-your-own devices. The dynamic on-device detection feature assesses the risk posture of users’ devices, ensuring protection against advanced threats. With a privacy-by-design approach, Cybereason MTD offers customizable user settings and transparency regarding data collection for threat intelligence.

The solution addresses the four main mobile threat vectors – phishing attacks, network attacks, malicious apps, and device attacks. It provides alerts for phishing attempts, identifies network vulnerabilities, continuously scans for malware, and evaluates device risk posture to prevent access by risky devices.

Additionally, Cybereason MTD enables organizations to integrate users’ mobile devices into a Zero-Trust architecture, enhancing identity and data access security. By improving visibility and compliance across all endpoints, including iOS, Android, and ChromeOS devices, organizations can mitigate risks from modern security threats effectively.

By implementing Cybereason MTD, businesses can enable user productivity while ensuring data protection. An example of an early adopter, a regional emergency medical services organization, leveraged the solution to secure patient data accessed by first responders on iPads. This initiative improved employee well-being and the quality of patient care by addressing critical cybersecurity vulnerabilities through mobile device security.

Eric Gan, CEO of Cybereason, stressed the urgency of gaining visibility into the mobile device attack surface as more users rely on mobile devices for accessing critical business data. The release of Cybereason Mobile Threat Defense aims to help organizations mitigate the risks of mobile-related cyberattacks while prioritizing the privacy of defenders.

In conclusion, Cybereason’s Mobile Threat Defense solution offers a comprehensive approach to mobile security, enabling organizations to protect their data, enhance user productivity, and combat evolving cybersecurity threats effectively.
