On Monday, the launch of Chakshu and Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP) on the Sanchar Sathi portal to report cybercrimes was celebrated by Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The live event was held at the Additional DG (Telecom) Office, Rajasthan LSA, Department of Telecommunications, Ground Floor, Sanchar Bhawan, Jhalana Institutional Area, Jaipur. These platforms are aimed to combat cybercrimes effectively.

Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized the importance of these platforms in combating the activities of cybercriminals. With the rise of fake calls and cyber fraud, the public can now report such incidents through DIP and Chakshu. For instance, if individuals receive suspicious calls, SMS, or WhatsApp messages offering fake job opportunities or requesting KYC details, they can easily report it through Chakshu.

The process of filing a complaint on Sanchar Sathi is outlined as follows:

1. Open the website sancharsaathi.gov.in.
2. Click on Citizen Centric Services.
3. Select Report Suspected Fraud Communication (Chakshu) in the first box.
4. Proceed by clicking on Continue for Reporting from the Chakshu window.
5. Answer a series of questions related to the nature of the communication and attach relevant screenshots.
6. Provide details such as the date and time of the incident, a brief complaint description, and personal contact information.
7. Complete the verification process by typing the captcha and verifying mobile via OTP.

The working mechanism of this platform involves informing the local police about the active number, requesting KYC verification from the number owner, and taking necessary actions if KYC is not provided. Additionally, the platform can trace IP addresses for internet calls, making it easier to track and identify the source of bulk calls, messages, or links.

The benefits of Chakshu are manifold, including aiding in the reduction of cybercrimes, facilitating the tracking of cybercriminals, simplifying the process of reporting cybercrimes for individuals, and raising awareness about cyber threats among the general public.

In conclusion, the launch of Chakshu and Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP) marks a significant step towards enhancing cybercrime prevention and response mechanisms in India. These platforms provide a user-friendly and efficient way for individuals to report fraudulent activities and contribute to the collective efforts in creating a safer digital environment.
