UAE takes part in International Crisis Response meeting in San Francisco

The United Arab Emirates recently took part in a meeting at the RSA Conference, where members of the International Counter Ransomware Initiative (CRI) gathered to discuss strategies for combating cybercrime, particularly ransomware. The CRI, which is considered the largest international cybersecurity collaboration partnership at the state level, has seen a significant increase in partners, growing from 35 in 2022 to 60 as of today.

One of the main topics of discussion at the meeting was the establishment of trust, information exchange, and collaboration on the Crystal Ball Platform, which aims to enhance collective defense and global resiliency within the CRI. The platform was showcased during the RSAC event to demonstrate its collaborative and threat-sharing capabilities, utilizing advanced models and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve user experience. Currently, more than 10 nations are actively using and sharing on the platform, with plans to onboard the remaining partners gradually by the end of the year.

The Crystal Ball Platform, powered by Microsoft technology, incorporates cutting-edge technologies for modern work, including embedded security, automation, and AI. The platform also takes into account data residency and geographic regions to comply with regulatory standards set by the CRI partners.

The meeting also included a panel discussion on “The Crystal Ball Platform: Facilitating collaborative information sharing and capacity building among members of the Counter Ransomware Initiative.” Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of the Cyber Security Council in the United Arab Emirates, emphasized the importance of the CRI in addressing ransomware threats and promoting resilience against cyber-attacks. He highlighted the AI technologies integrated into the Crystal Ball solution, which aims to create a secure and collaborative platform to help nations combat cyber threats and understand the adversaries behind them.

Amy Hogan-Burney, General Manager, Associate General Counsel, Cybersecurity Policy & Protection at Microsoft, praised the International Counter Ransomware Initiative for uniting industry and government efforts in combating cyber threats. She emphasized the importance of leveraging the unique abilities and expertise of each sector to develop effective solutions for disrupting the ransomware ecosystem.

The collaborative efforts of CRI members at the RSA Conference highlight the importance of international cooperation in combating cyber threats and promoting cybersecurity resilience. By working together and sharing information through platforms like the Crystal Ball Platform, nations can strengthen their defenses against ransomware attacks and disrupt criminal networks involved in cybercrime. The continued expansion of the CRI partnership demonstrates a global commitment to cybersecurity and a shared goal of creating a cyber-aware culture to mitigate cyber threats effectively.
