Erode college clinches top prize in cyber hackathon in Thoothukudi

The district police in Thoothukudi recently held a cyber hackathon competition at V.O.C. Engineering College, where District Superintendent of Police Albert John presented prizes to the winners. The competition, which was announced on March 4, aimed to highlight the skills of participants in computer and information technology.

The hackathon focused on six topics, including women and children’s safety, cyber safety, and road safety. After the initial round on March 11, where winners were selected, the top participants submitted their prototypes to the Thoothukudi Cyber Crime Unit for evaluation.

A total of 18 groups competed in the final round, presenting their projects to a panel of judges. The first prize of ₹70,000 went to a team from Bannari Amman Institute of Technology in Erode, while the second prize of ₹40,000 was awarded to V.O.C. Engineering College in Thoothukudi. St. Joseph’s Institute of Technology in Chennai secured the third prize of ₹25,000. Additionally, three other teams received recognition for their exceptional work and each received ₹5,000.

The event showcased the talent and innovation of participants in leveraging technology to address pressing issues in society. The competition not only provided a platform for students and the general public to demonstrate their skills but also highlighted the importance of cybersecurity and safety in the digital age.

District Superintendent of Police Albert John commended all the participants for their hard work and dedication in making the hackathon a success. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in promoting technological advancement and creating a safer online environment for all citizens.

The winners expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to showcase their projects and appreciated the support and recognition from the district police.
