Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 8 (ANI): Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar, renowned for his vocal stance on social issues, joined forces with the Maharashtra Cyber Police on Friday to introduce a helpline dedicated to aiding victims of cyberbullying and online abuse.

The Maharashtra Cyber Cell collaborated with the non-profit organization, Brush Of Hope, to launch the helpline for individuals who have fallen prey to cyberbullying. At the launch event in Mumbai, the ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ actor stressed the importance of being alert against cyber crimes and stressed the significance of taking appropriate measures to tackle online threats.

“In today’s digital age, one of the most prevalent criminal activities is cybercrime. It is vital for all of us to remain vigilant and support each other. The Brush Of Hope NGO has initiated a commendable effort, especially focusing on children who often take risks while growing up, thinking they are invincible. Sometimes, these risks can lead to harmful consequences. Therefore, initiatives like ‘Brush For Hope’ are crucial. I am glad to support this cause and hope to raise awareness through our efforts and connections,” expressed Farhan Akhtar.

When questioned about celebrities becoming targets of cyberbullying, the actor acknowledged that no one is immune to such incidents. He praised the structure put in place by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell and commended the helpline launched by Brush Of Hope, stating that it is reassuring to see such resources available for individuals in need.

“They are human beings too, and cyberbullying can happen to anyone. The support provided by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell and the helpline initiated by Brush Of Hope is truly heartening. I am pleased that these tools are available for individuals, irrespective of gender, to seek help,” Farhan Akhtar remarked.

Shifting focus to his recent work, Farhan Akhtar served as a producer for the film “The Superboys Of Malegaon” alongside Zoya Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. The movie hit theaters on February 28, tracing the journey of Nasir Shaikh, an aspiring filmmaker from the small town of Malegaon, who pursues his filmmaking dreams with his friends despite numerous hurdles.

Starring Adarsh Gourav, Vineet Kumar Singh, and Shashank Arora, the film draws inspiration from a true story and showcases the challenges and triumphs of three friends who, unable to afford to move to Mumbai, collaborate to turn their filmmaking aspirations into a reality. (ANI)
