Synopsys, a developer of software and electronic systems, has been once again recognized by the global research and advisory firm, Gartner, for its leadership in the application security testing (AST) market. The company has been named a leader in the Magic Quadrant™ for Application Security Testing for the seventh consecutive year.

In the report, Gartner assessed 12 application security testing vendors on their completeness of vision and ability to execute. Synopsys garnered the highest ability to execute score and the furthest completeness of vision score for the fifth year in a row.

The 2023 Critical Capabilities for Application Security Testing, which complemented the Magic Quadrant and scored the same 12 vendors across five common use cases, also recognized Synopsys as having the highest scores for all five use cases. These use cases include Enterprise, Cloud-Native Applications, DevSecOps, Mobile, and Client, and Software Supply Chain Security.

The Synopsys Software Integrity Group has been dedicated to delivering effective application security testing that is both fast and scalable while being convenient to use and seamlessly integrated into the software development life cycle. The report mentioned that security and development teams are increasingly seeking to integrate and automate AST as part of their software development activities.

According to the authors of the report, “Modern application design, the shift to the cloud, and accelerating adoption of DevSecOps are expanding the scope of the AST market. Security and risk management leaders can meet tighter deadlines and test more complex applications by integrating and automating AST in the software life cycle.”

Jason Schmitt, the General Manager of the Synopsys Software Integrity Group, acknowledged the importance of application security, saying, “As recent highly publicized vulnerabilities and software supply chain attacks have shown, application security is both critical and complex.” He further stated that the company has made significant investments over the past year to address the needs of their customers. These include the acquisition of WhiteHat Security and the launch of new cloud-native SAST and SCA services on the Polaris Software Integrity Platform.

Synopsys’ dedication to enhancing its application security testing solutions has contributed to the continued growth and leadership of its business unit. The company has introduced several new offerings and upgrades over the past year, including acquisitions, Next-Generation Polaris Services, DevOps Integrations, Cloud-Native AppSec enhancements, and Software Supply Chain Security improvements.

Schmitt added, “We are honored to be recognized by Gartner as a Leader in Application Security Testing for the seventh consecutive year. We believe this acknowledges our vision and ability to execute against evolving market requirements.” The public can download complimentary copies of the 2023 Magic Quadrant for Application Security Testing and the 2023 Critical Capabilities for Application Security Testing from Synopsys’ website to learn more.
