UK cybersecurity specialist Core to Cloud has recently made a significant move in its leadership by appointing Andy Gamble, the former Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Currys Group, as the Chair of its Advisory Board. This strategic decision aligns with the company’s ambition to enhance and accelerate the growth of its managed security services—a crucial area in today’s increasingly complex cybersecurity landscape.

Gamble brings nearly three decades of board-level technology leadership experience to Core to Cloud, where his expertise will steer the strategic, advisory, and commercial direction of the company across the UK enterprise and mid-market sectors. His appointment is considered a key asset to the Advisory Board, which is already populated with senior security leaders from several prominent UK organizations.

Before taking on this new role, Gamble served as Group CIO and Chief Transformation Officer at Currys PLC for six years. His responsibilities included overseeing large-scale technology transformations and addressing cyber risk, experiences that align closely with the challenges faced by businesses in securing their operations. In addition to this position, Gamble has held senior CIO roles at esteemed companies such as Dyson, Sony Electronics, and Essentra PLC. His extensive background equips him with a unique perspective from the customer side of the cybersecurity market, having firsthand experience in procuring and managing the very types of services Core to Cloud offers.

Speaking about his career and new position, Gamble emphasized the lessons learned over nearly three decades in the cybersecurity domain. “I spent the better part of three decades as a buyer of cybersecurity services, and that experience left me with a clear view of where the market falls short,” he stated. He acknowledged that while most organizations recognize the reality of cyber threats, significantly fewer possess a security apparatus capable of effectively communicating that risk at the board level. Furthermore, Gamble identified a critical gap: the need for partners who can adapt rapidly to evolving threats.

His conviction that Core to Cloud stands out in the cybersecurity marketplace is rooted in the company’s commitment to proactive security measures. Gamble expressed his intention to utilize his experience to scale the company’s model, positioning it as a challenger to traditional managed security service providers. This vision aligns with broader trends in the sector, where organizations are increasingly seeking agile and adaptable security solutions.

Core to Cloud, headquartered in Cirencester, has established itself as a trusted partner for over 150 organizations across various sectors, including the NHS, retail, financial services, and critical national infrastructure. The range of services it provides includes Managed Detection and Response, Third-Party Cyber Risk Management, Security Assurance, Dark Web Monitoring and Threat Intelligence, and Cyber Crisis Simulation. This diverse offering affirms the company’s commitment to a comprehensive approach to cybersecurity.

James Cunningham, the CEO and Founder of Core to Cloud, praised Gamble’s extensive background at the nexus of technology, risk, and commercial strategy. He noted that Gamble’s insights into effective security practices will be invaluable as the company continues its growth trajectory. “He understands what good security looks like from the inside and brings a depth of experience and perspective that will be hugely valuable,” Cunningham explained.

The excitement surrounding Gamble’s appointment reflects Core to Cloud’s ambition and its robust client base. With a firm belief in the services they deliver, Cunningham highlighted the potential for growth: “Having Andy chair our board will help us build on those foundations, challenge our thinking, and accelerate the next stage of Core to Cloud’s growth.”

In conclusion, the strategic addition of Gamble to Core to Cloud’s Advisory Board signals a forward-thinking approach to tackling cybersecurity challenges. As the threat landscape continues to evolve, the company seems well-positioned to leverage Gamble’s extensive experience and insights to refine its offerings and broaden its impact in the cybersecurity realm. With a proactive focus and an expansive service suite, Core to Cloud aims to not only meet the current needs of its customers but also anticipate the evolving demands of the future.
