Frontegg, an identity and access management platform, has recently unveiled the launch of Frontegg Forward, a new tool designed to assist software as a service (SaaS) companies in managing customer identity and user management within their products. The company has stated that Frontegg Forward brings four key user management innovations that are essential for SaaS companies to address in order to meet their growth objectives over the next decade.

The new offering aims to build upon and expand the customer identity and access management (CIAM) capabilities provided by Frontegg, enabling customers to transition from basic functionality to advanced use cases in order to deliver greater value for their end users.

According to a recent survey conducted by Team8, a significant number of Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) are planning to increase their investment in identity and access management (IAM) to address security challenges within their organizations. The survey found that nearly half (46%) of the 130 global CISOs who participated in the survey are looking to expand their spending in areas such as identity governance and administration, privileged access management, authentication, and machine identity management. The increased investment in IAM is attributed to unmet needs in existing IAM tools and programs, accelerated adoption of cloud technologies, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on remote working practices.

Frontegg Forward offers several key features that are designed to enhance user management capabilities for SaaS companies. One of these features is the introduction of Hierarchies, which allows for the creation of multi-tiered, nested, and multi-tenant SaaS application structures. This enables users to define roles, permission associations, and access controls for sub-organizations and provides the ability to set inheritance of privileges at any sub-layer.

Additionally, Frontegg Forward introduces three layers of innovation in security, including proprietary engines such as Too-Fast-to-Travel, Bot Detection, and Stale Users. The back-office layer provides SaaS vendors with a comprehensive dashboard for real-time security posture visibility, while the security self-serve layer allows end-users to access the identity posture of their accounts through the Frontegg Admin Portal, promoting trust and accountability.

The new tool also includes Frontegg Signals, a native analytics engine that enables SaaS vendors to gain actionable insights within their Frontegg back-office without the need for additional event coding or infrastructure. Machine learning is applied to sense patterns and uncover insights on app behaviors, feature adoption rates, geographical spread, low-performing accounts, and influential personas within an account. Integration modules are also available to export insights to third-party tools such as Slack.
