Thailand’s National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) has teamed up with Google Cloud to bolster the country’s cybersecurity defenses, in light of the increasing cyber threats faced by the nation as it undergoes digital transformation. The collaboration, which was officially announced at the Safer Songkran event, aims to enhance resilience against cyber attacks and strengthen online security for both citizens and government entities.

One of the key aspects of this partnership is the sharing of threat intelligence and the development of advanced incident response capabilities. Google Cloud Cybershield, an AI-powered platform, will play a crucial role in monitoring security threats across public sector organizations in Thailand. By leveraging tools such as Google Threat Intelligence, Mandiant’s threat insights, and VirusTotal’s database, the government will be better equipped to combat cybercriminal activities and state-sponsored attacks. In addition, Mandiant consultants will provide training to public sector professionals in digital forensics and malware analysis, further enhancing the country’s cybersecurity readiness.

An important milestone in this collaboration is the successful implementation of Google Play Protect’s anti-scam feature, which has already prevented over 6.6 million high-risk app installations in Thailand since its launch in 2024. This proactive measure demonstrates Google’s commitment to safeguarding users from malicious activities, particularly in the mobile space where cyber threats are increasingly prevalent.

With the digital economy in Thailand poised to grow significantly, reaching US$100 billion by 2030, the importance of cybersecurity cannot be overstated. The partnership between the government and Google Cloud underscores the shared commitment to protecting national security and equipping citizens with the necessary tools and knowledge to stay safe online. By leveraging advanced technologies and promoting collaboration between the public and private sectors, Thailand is positioning itself as a regional leader in cybersecurity within the Asia-Pacific region.

In conclusion, the collaboration between Thailand’s NCSA and Google Cloud marks a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to enhance cybersecurity infrastructure and tackle cyber threats in an increasingly digital landscape. By investing in proactive security measures and fostering cooperation between governmental and private entities, Thailand is taking proactive steps to safeguard its digital future and protect its citizens from evolving cyber risks.
