This partnership aims to carry out a series of initiatives that will focus on raising awareness and educating citizens across the state about how to navigate the internet safely and effectively protect themselves from cyber threats. The main focus will be to combat phone-based frauds and scams that pose a significant risk to vulnerable individuals in the community.

With the rapid advancement of technology, cybercrimes and fraud in digital communication have become a serious concern, leaving many citizens at risk. In response, the Government of Karnataka is taking proactive steps to address these issues and promote safety in digital communications. Shri Priyank Kharge, Minister for Information Technology & Bio Technology and Rural Development & Panchayat Raj, emphasized the importance of adopting a collaborative approach, particularly in Bengaluru, a city known for its innovation and as a thriving tech hub.

Up to now, Truecaller has successfully conducted cyber safety training for over 1.6 million citizens in partnership with various law enforcement agencies and state governments across India. Furthermore, Truecaller’s Government Directory Services feature has also played a significant role in assisting over 31.2 million users in identifying and verifying calls from spam and fraud, in addition to providing easy access to helplines and important government numbers on the platform.

Rishit Jhunjhunwala, Chief Product Officer and Managing Director of India at Truecaller, expressed the company’s dedication to continually improving fraud prevention measures. He also expressed confidence that the collaboration with the Government of Karnataka will greatly benefit citizens and help them stay ahead of fraudsters.

As technology continues to evolve, the threat of cybercrime and fraud becomes more sophisticated and widespread. The collaboration between Truecaller and the Government of Karnataka is a positive step towards addressing these challenges and promoting a safer digital environment for citizens. By providing citizens with the necessary knowledge and resources to protect themselves from online harm, this collaboration will contribute to building a safer and more secure digital landscape for the future.
