Huawei Cloud has recently announced a collaboration with the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) to streamline the cybersecurity certification process for enterprises. This partnership is in line with Singapore’s goal of building a resilient and digital-first nation.
The joint effort was unveiled at the GovWare 2024 event during the Singapore International Cyber Week. Together, Huawei Cloud and CSA introduced the Security Companion Guide for CSA Cyber Trust Mark Certification. This guide aims to assist businesses in understanding and fulfilling the requirements for attaining the Cyber Trust Mark certification.
In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, many organizations are transitioning to cloud environments. However, traditional IT security models often fall short in safeguarding digital assets effectively. This shift has resulted in companies grappling with identifying their specific responsibilities regarding cloud security, which can vary based on their digital maturity and migration strategies.
To address these challenges, Huawei Cloud, as an Advocate Partner of CSA’s SG Cyber Safe Partnership Programme, is dedicated to offering robust solutions and cloud service resources that meet the stringent standards of the Cyber Trust Mark certification. The collaboration with CSA plays a crucial role in the development of the Security Companion Guide, which serves as a roadmap for enterprises not only in Singapore but also across the Southeast Asian region.
The Security Companion Guide serves as a comprehensive resource for organizations looking to implement effective cyber hygiene practices through collaboration between the public and private sectors. It provides clear guidance on cloud security responsibility-sharing models and outlines the necessary steps to adhere to Cyber Trust Mark requirements. Additionally, the guide offers practical advice on implementing essential cybersecurity measures and maps Huawei Cloud’s services and best practices to the control domains of the Cyber Trust Mark for easier compliance.
Maxi Wang, CEO of Huawei International, emphasized the significance of the Cyber Trust Mark certification, highlighting its role in enhancing cybersecurity maturity and hygiene practices across organizations in Singapore and Southeast Asia. Through this collaboration with CSA, the goal is to democratize cybersecurity and empower businesses of all sizes to meet regulatory standards and build resilient operations against evolving cyber threats.
The Cyber Trust Mark certification forms a key component of CSA’s Cyber Safe Certification Program, acknowledging organizations that actively manage cybersecurity risks and maintain high levels of cybersecurity hygiene. This program encompasses the Cyber Essentials mark, which identifies organizations implementing fundamental cybersecurity measures against prevalent threats.
For enterprises striving to meet the Cyber Trust Mark requirements, adopting a risk-based approach is essential. Organizations are expected to sustain ongoing cybersecurity readiness across 22 specific topics to prepare against potential cyber threats. The Cyber Trust Mark categorizes organizations into five levels of readiness – Supporter, Practitioner, Promoter, Performer, and Advocate. The Security Companion Guide for CSA Cyber Trust Mark Certification plays a crucial role in helping enterprises implement necessary cybersecurity measures for seamless cloud integration.
Moreover, the Cyber Trust Mark certification is aligned with ISO27001 standards, complementing other certifications such as CSA STAR and CSA CCM 4.0. This alignment allows organizations to benchmark their cybersecurity efforts against internationally recognized standards. The Security Companion Guide not only benefits Singaporean enterprises but also serves as a valuable resource for cybersecurity initiatives across ASEAN member states.
In addition to the guide, Huawei Cloud has developed a dedicated security solution aimed at promoting the Cyber Trust Mark certification. This initiative enables customers to manage information security risks effectively while implementing robust cybersecurity practices based on Cyber Trust Mark standards.
Dennis Chan, Chief Security & Privacy Officer at Huawei International, highlighted the role of cloud service providers like Huawei Cloud in prioritizing responsible cybersecurity practices to create a secure digital landscape. He expressed confidence that the Huawei Cloud Security Companion Guide, developed in collaboration with the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore, will assist cloud tenants in adopting the right cybersecurity posture to secure their digital assets.
Overall, the partnership between Huawei Cloud and CSA is set to pave the way for enhanced cybersecurity practices and certifications in Singapore and the wider Southeast Asian region, contributing to the overall digital resilience and security of enterprises in the evolving cyber landscape.
