Memphis, Tenn., June 28, 2024 – Human Technology Inc. and its affiliates, Greer Orthotics & Prosthetics, Inc., Murphy’s Orthopedic & Footcare, Inc., and Hi-Tech Prosthetics & Orthotics, Inc., disclosed a data security breach that occurred between March 14, 2024, and March 15, 2024, according to a recent press release.

The breach was detected on March 15, 2024, and prompted an immediate response from Human Technology and its affiliates to investigate the incident. Forensic computer specialists were engaged to assess the extent of the breach, and law enforcement was notified. The investigation was concluded on May 31, 2024.

It was determined that an unauthorized individual gained access to the computer systems of Human Technology and its affiliates. The compromised information includes contact details such as names, addresses, and dates of birth, as well as sensitive data like medical information, health insurance details, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, passport numbers, tax identification numbers, payment card information, account numbers, and routing numbers.

Although there have been no reported cases of identity theft or fraudulent activity linked to the breach so far, Human Technology and its affiliates took a proactive approach to notify potentially affected individuals. A notification letter was sent to inform them of the incident and to provide them with identity theft protection and credit monitoring services at no cost. This was done on June 28, 2024.

In light of the breach, Human Technology and its affiliates have implemented additional security measures and policies to prevent future incidents. These include enhanced monitoring through endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools.

Individuals who suspect that their data may have been compromised are advised to closely review any notification letters received and make use of the credit monitoring and identity protection services offered. It is also recommended to monitor statements from healthcare providers, banks, and credit card companies for any unusual activity and to report any suspicious behavior promptly.

For those directly affected by the breach, a dedicated Call Center has been set up by Human Technology and its affiliates to provide assistance and information. The toll-free number for the Call Center is (866)-528-4805, and it operates from Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Central Time.

Human Technology Inc. emphasized that the privacy and security of individuals’ data are paramount and they are committed to ensuring the protection of sensitive information. They urge affected individuals to take necessary precautions and reach out for support if needed.
