Hyderabad Cybercrime police apprehend Chennai individual in cryptocurrency scam-Telangana Today

Hyderabad Cybercrime police have made a breakthrough in the case of cryptocurrency fraud by arresting S Ramakrishna Reddy (41) from Chennai. Ramakrishna is alleged to have cheated people under the guise of trading through his cryptocurrency exchange company, Bitcoin India Software Services Pvt. Ltd. The arrest follows a complaint from a man in Jubilee Hills who was defrauded by Ramakrishna to the tune of Rs 8.5 lakh.

According to the police investigation, Ramakrishna, along with his brother, devised a scheme to deceive individuals, particularly cryptocurrency traders, across India in order to make illicit gains. Their modus operandi included establishing a company named Bitcoin India Software Services Pvt. Ltd. and launching a cryptocurrency application called “Bitcoin India Wallet and Exchange,” as well as a corresponding website at https://bitcoin-india.org/en.

The cybercrime official handling the case disclosed that Ramakrishna would exploit cryptocurrency trading customers by deducting all of their funds under the pretense of maintenance fees and other expenses, subsequently displaying a zero balance to the victim. When the defrauded customers sought to reach out to Ramakrishna and his accomplices, they would deliberately evade contact and vanish into hiding.

The arrest of Ramakrishna Reddy marks a significant development in the fight against cryptocurrency fraud in India, as law enforcement agencies work diligently to crack down on such criminal activities.
