Illumio and Netskope partner to enhance enterprise protection from cyber threats

In a recent collaboration, Illumio and Netskope have joined forces to introduce a Zero Trust partnership aimed at enhancing cybersecurity measures and thwarting potential breaches. This strategic alliance between Illumio’s Zero Trust Segmentation (ZTS) and Netskope’s Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) combines the strengths of both solutions to fortify defenses and boost cyber resilience for organizations.

The partnership integrates Illumio ZTS with Netskope ZTNA Next through the Netskope Cloud Exchange (CE) platform, allowing network and security teams to establish Zero Trust policies that ensure secure access both at the organization’s perimeter and within its hybrid, multi-cloud infrastructure. As per the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), which advocates the adoption of Zero Trust Architecture, the three primary enforcement points include identity, network access, and workload segmentation. While Zero Trust Network Access is deployed at the organization’s boundary, Zero Trust Segmentation is implemented at the destination workloads.

The key highlight of this collaboration is the seamless sharing of contextual information between Illumio ZTS and Netskope ZTNA Next, which enables consistent Zero Trust security measures across the network. By combining application-to-application visibility from Illumio ZTS with user-to-application-based visibility from Netskope ZTNA Next, organizations can gain real-time insights into user-to-application and application-to-application traffic, enabling a comprehensive understanding of risks end-to-end.

Moreover, the integrated solution offers comprehensive visibility across hybrid environments, enhances protection for end users against non-compliant workloads, and facilitates dynamic ZTNA policy updates. Netskope’s security policies are automatically adjusted based on metadata from Illumio, eliminating the need for manual rule rewriting and ensuring continuous protection for users and critical applications.

With the escalating threat of ransomware attacks and the increasing financial repercussions of breaches, organizations are increasingly turning to Zero Trust solutions to bolster their resilience against cyber threats. According to IBM data, the cost of breaches has surged to $4.45 million, prompting a proactive approach towards enhancing cybersecurity defenses. The adoption of Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) is witnessing strong traction, particularly among large and midmarket organizations, as highlighted by Gartner’s observations.

In light of the evolving cybersecurity landscape, businesses are recognizing the importance of ensuring secure access to online resources by applying Zero Trust principles rigorously. David Willis, VP of Technology Alliances at Netskope, emphasized the significance of contextual insights in reinforcing security measures for private workloads. Similarly, Mario Espinoza, CPO at Illumio, emphasized the need for Zero Trust technologies to share context seamlessly in order to maintain a unified view of the protected environment and adjust policies accordingly.

In conclusion, the Illumio and Netskope partnership signifies a step towards simplifying the implementation of Zero Trust principles across hybrid environments, thereby enhancing organizational resilience against cybersecurity threats. By leveraging the combined capabilities of Zero Trust Segmentation and Zero Trust Network Access, organizations can strengthen their defenses and mitigate the risk of breaches effectively.
