(ISC)², the world’s leading nonprofit member organization for cybersecurity professionals, has recently announced a significant change. In order to reflect its growing global membership and expanded role in strengthening the influence, diversity, and vitality of cybersecurity professionals around the world, the organization has rebranded itself as ISC2.
Coinciding with the rebrand, ISC2 has also unveiled its newly revamped website. The redesigned website aims to embody inclusivity and cater to a diverse global audience. It provides individuals with easy access to tailored resources to fuel their professional development journey. The announcement of the rebrand and the launch of the revamped website come as ISC2 celebrates a major achievement – its community has grown to over 500,000 members. This is a remarkable milestone for an association that was founded in 1989 as a certification body for the cybersecurity profession.
ISC2 has experienced record growth in its global community since 2020. The organization has focused on attracting more people from diverse backgrounds into the cybersecurity profession, supporting their career growth, and advocating for their interests worldwide. One of the pillars of this growth is ISC2’s “One Million Certified in Cybersecurity” initiative. This initiative aims to build a diverse and skilled cybersecurity workforce pipeline and close the global workforce gap of 3.4 million professionals. Since its launch 11 months ago, ISC2 has enrolled more than 250,000 individuals in the entry-level certification training for the “Certified in Cybersecurity” program and over 310,000 as ISC2 Candidates.
Advocacy and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) have also contributed to ISC2’s growth. The organization is committed to providing a voice for its members and the cybersecurity profession among policymakers worldwide. Additionally, ISC2 strives to improve the accessibility of cybersecurity careers. Originally founded to develop a program and common body of knowledge for the certification of cybersecurity professionals, ISC2 has expanded its range of offerings to meet the needs of its diverse and global community. It now provides lifelong learning support, premier cybersecurity certifications and training, and continued education resources for members to gain and maintain competencies.
Clar Rosso, CEO of ISC2, emphasized the organization’s dedication to fostering a dynamic and diverse cybersecurity community. Rosso acknowledged the remarkable milestone of surpassing 500,000 members and assured current and future members that ISC2 is there to support them throughout their careers. Rosso also expressed gratitude to the founders, past colleagues, and members who have contributed to ISC2’s success.
Andrew Woolnough, EVP Communications, Content, and Brand of ISC2, highlighted the organization’s mission to bring more people from diverse backgrounds into cybersecurity and help them achieve professional excellence and career growth. Woolnough explained that the rebranding process aimed to create a brand identity that embodies inclusion and accessibility. The redesigned website promotes inclusive language and imagery and makes it easier for candidates and members to find what they need.
The rebrand includes a name change from (ISC)² to ISC2. This change aims to improve global accessibility and ease translation across all languages. By embracing this new identity and continuing their commitment to the cybersecurity profession, ISC2 aims to further strengthen its influence, diversity, and vitality in the industry.
