Keeper Security Introduces KeeperDB: A Revolutionary Database Access Solution for Enhanced Security

In a significant advancement for data security, Keeper Security has unveiled KeeperDB, an innovative database access capability embedded within its vault. This breakthrough allows for secure, policy-governed interactions with databases directly from the Keeper Vault, a feature that is set to be officially launched at the upcoming RSA Conference 2026. This initiative underscores Keeper Security’s commitment to enhancing enterprise-level database management by integrating advanced security features with user-friendly access.

KeeperDB is designed specifically for a broad spectrum of users, including developers, database administrators, and security teams. It aims to streamline the handling of sensitive information through a unified interface, ensuring that workflows are simplified while adhering to stringent access governance policies. This is particularly relevant given that enterprise databases often represent some of the most sensitive assets within organizations.

Historically, access to enterprise databases has been inadequately regulated, placing these critical assets at risk. Many organizations manage database access using desktop tools, shared credentials, and network tunnels, resulting in limited visibility and control over who accesses this crucial information. This fragmented approach not only increases the likelihood of cyber attacks but also opens the door to insider misuse of data. Such vulnerabilities can lead to credential exposure, unwanted data exfiltration, and noticeable gaps in audit trails, all of which can compromise an organization’s security posture.

KeeperDB addresses these challenges by expanding KeeperPAM into a vault-native interface that consolidates database session management within a zero-trust and zero-knowledge environment. Centralized policies govern access, ensuring that every interaction is fully recorded and readily auditable for compliance purposes.

The integration of database access directly into the Keeper Vault offers multiple benefits. Key advantages include the significant reduction of credential sprawl, the standardization of database access workflows, and the enhancement of audit readiness across both cloud and on-premises environments. Darren Guccione, the CEO and co-founder of Keeper Security, emphasized the importance of this development. He noted, “Database access has historically been one of the most used yet least-governed areas of enterprise security. KeeperDB brings database management into the vault – allowing organizations to apply the same zero-trust controls, visibility, and auditing they rely on for privileged access – without introducing new tools, credentials, or attack paths.” This statement reflects a broader trend in the cybersecurity landscape where organizations increasingly demand centralized solutions that do not compromise security.

With KeeperDB, users can launch database sessions directly from the Keeper Vault’s database records, offering a choice between a Graphical User Interface (GUI) and a Command-Line Interface (CLI). Initial support is geared toward major database systems, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server.

The benefits associated with KeeperDB are noteworthy:

  • It eliminates credential exposure by ensuring that database credentials are never disclosed to users or stored on endpoints.
  • It mitigates data exfiltration risks through granular controls, such as read-only access and defined policies for data transfer.
  • Full visual session recording of database activity strengthens audit readiness, allowing organizations to track interactions meticulously.

For organizations that wish to continue utilizing existing database clients, KeeperDB will be complemented by KeeperDB Proxy. This feature will maintain secure connections while ensuring centralized policy enforcement, credential protection, and visibility into database sessions.

He remarked, “Most database access today happens through disparate tools that sit outside security controls. We built KeeperDB so teams can work the way they’re used to, but inside a zero-trust environment. It’s a simpler, safer way to manage database access that enhances productivity.”
