Lacework, a data-driven cloud security company, has announced the appointment of Lea Kissner as its Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) who will spearhead the development and implementation of the firm’s overall security strategy and programs. Kissner, who brings over 20 years of experience leading security, privacy, and anti-abuse efforts at global organizations, including Twitter, Humu and Google, is renowned for her expertise and contributions to the security industry.

In the spring of 2020, Kissner served as a Security and Privacy consultant for Zoom as the company was grappling with security concerns following a massive increase in usage due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Her contribution has been praised as instrumental in addressing the security, privacy, and anti-abuse features of Zoom’s products and systems.

Lacework’s CEO, Jay Parikh, expressed his excitement about the firm’s investment in Kissner, noting that her deep understanding of both the challenges facing modern CISOs and the tremendous value CISOs bring to their organizations and customers when given the chance to implement security best practices will make a significant contribution to the delivery of a world-class cloud security platform to better serve customers.

Kissner currently serves as a board member of the USENIX Association, a nonprofit organization supporting the advanced computing systems communities and furthering the reach of innovative research.

In her remarks after the announcement, Kissner expressed her passion for helping people build secure products that just work for the end-users. She further noted that Lacework’s unique data-driven approach to cloud security gives customers the opportunity to take advantage of the inherent benefits of the cloud while keeping their data secure.

The appointment comes at a time when Lacework is expanding its presence in the cloud security market, with the company continuing to grow its leadership team. Lacework’s platform is renowned for being the leading cloud-native application protection platform (CNAPP) solution, with the ability to collect, analyze, and accurately correlate data across an organization’s cloud and Kubernetes environments without requiring manually written rules. The platform provides security and DevOps teams worldwide the confidence and trust they require to secure cloud-native applications across the full lifecycle from code to the cloud.

Lacework’s mission is to secure the cloud, and with Kissner now leading its security strategy, it is expected that the firm will continue to strengthen its foothold in the cloud security market.
