Lattica, a groundbreaking FHE-based platform that facilitates secure and private utilization of AI in the cloud, has recently come out of stealth mode with an impressive $3.25 million in pre-seed funding. This funding round was spearheaded by Cyber Fund, led by Konstantin Lomashuk, along with the participation of notable angel investor Sandeep Nailwal, who is the co-founder of Polygon Network and Sentient: The Open AGI Foundation, among other contributors.

The emergence of Lattica is seen as a significant development in industries such as healthcare, finance, and government sectors, where concerns regarding data privacy and security have been hindering the widespread adoption of AI technologies. A recent study by Cisco highlighted that 70% of CEOs expressed worry about the security of their networks due to the increased integration of AI technologies, with 34% identifying security as a major obstacle to adoption.

Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE), described as the “holy grail” of cryptography in recent times, plays a crucial role in maintaining encrypted communication between AI providers and end users without the need for decryption. Despite its potential, FHE has faced challenges due to computational inefficiencies. However, Lattica has capitalized on recent advancements in the AI acceleration stack to make FHE more accessible and operational.

Dr. Rotem Tsabary, the founder and CEO of Lattica, who holds a PhD in lattice-based cryptography from the Weizmann Institute of Science, has led the team in leveraging the similarities between FHE and machine learning to create a cloud-based platform that enables secure and private AI usage. The platform’s Homomorphic Encryption Abstraction Layer (HEAL) is a key differentiator, enhancing FHE performance and facilitating standardization in its acceleration.

One of the unique aspects of Lattica’s solution is its ability to connect FHE applications and AI algorithms across a range of hardware through HEAL, including GPUs, TPUs, CPUs, as well as specialized accelerators like ASICs and FPGAs. By combining hardware acceleration with software optimization, Lattica has successfully enhanced FHE efficiency, making it commercially viable and addressing critical data challenges that have been impeding AI adoption in sensitive industries.

In addition to unveiling its platform, Lattica has made demos available on its website and released insights from a comprehensive survey within the FHE community. Survey findings have confirmed the belief that a combination of hardware and software advancements will drive FHE adoption, with 71% of respondents endorsing this approach.

The platform’s focus on healthcare and finance underscores its potential applications in secure data analysis for medical research and encrypted financial transactions. Investors and industry experts have praised Lattica’s innovative approach in enhancing AI security through FHE and anticipate its significant impact on the market.

Overall, Lattica’s pioneering technology represents a significant advancement in enabling practical and scalable FHE implementation for secure AI computation. With its product-first approach and commitment to transforming sensitive data processing in the AI ecosystem, Lattica is poised to lead the way in advancing the future of AI security and privacy.
