Mihirr P Thaker, the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Allcargo Group, shared his insights on the challenges and opportunities facing cybersecurity professionals in the logistics industry in an interview with The Cyber Express. With more than two decades of experience in the field, Mihirr discussed the critical balance between security and operational efficiency, the role of AI in threat detection, and the importance of collaboration in building resilient cybersecurity frameworks.

Mihirr’s journey into cybersecurity began in 2005 when he joined ISACA (Information Systems Audit and Control Association) and obtained the Certified Information Systems Auditor certification. He emphasized the importance of continuous learning in the ever-evolving field of cybersecurity and highlighted his recent achievement of a Cybersecurity Nexus Professional (CSX-P) certification to enhance his knowledge and skills.

As the CISO at Allcargo Group, Mihirr faced various challenges in developing an advanced cybersecurity framework for a global logistics conglomerate. He highlighted the need for constant vigilance and continuous learning in the cybersecurity domain, as the threats and technologies are constantly evolving.

One of the major pain points Mihirr addressed as a CISO was the need for collaboration and cooperation across the organizational IT landscape to implement effective security controls. He stressed the importance of clear communication and alignment of security objectives with operational priorities to ensure successful security measures.

In the rapidly advancing field of technology, Mihirr discussed the transformative role of AI-driven threat detection and response in cybersecurity for the logistics industry. He emphasized the potential of AI in enhancing threat detection capabilities and automating tasks to optimize cybersecurity in complex supply chain operations.

Maintaining a balance between implementing strict security measures and ensuring the efficiency of logistics operations is crucial, according to Mihirr. He highlighted the importance of aligning stakeholders with cybersecurity objectives and fostering a culture of security awareness to build trust and adhere to robust security practices.

Looking ahead, Mihirr identified collaboration with external cybersecurity experts and vendors as essential in ensuring the security of logistics systems. He underscored the need for due diligence and monitoring of external experts’ activities to enhance security shields against cyberattacks.

In conclusion, Mihirr stressed the importance of continual innovation and improvement in the cybersecurity industry. He emphasized the need for strategic technology adoption and collaboration among cybersecurity professionals to stay ahead of evolving threats and drive continual improvement in cybersecurity defenses.
